SMS is currently hiring for a Full-time assistant to work with Elementary students!
Your Role as an Elementary Assistant
As our Elementary Classroom Assistant, you'll help create a peaceful, engaging learning environment where children develop independence, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. Working alongside an experienced Montessori Guide, you'll support students in their daily discoveries while growing your own skills as an educator. If you're eager to learn, collaborate, and make a meaningful difference, we'd love to have you join our team.

Successful team members:
- Are dependable and consistent in their ability to be physically and mentally present for the children
- Take responsibility for being proactive in problem-solving, caring for the environment, and building relationships

- Establish and enforce rules and boundaries of behavior for children in their classrooms.We have a very structured classroom environment.
- Be professional and mature in appearance and attitude
- Help children use resources and explore during learning and play activities using the Montessori method of learning
- Help with homework and after-school care
Expectations:
- Monday-Friday
- 40 hrs/week
- Ability to be on your feet
- Ability to lift and move
- Ability to conduct chores apart from child care (cleaning, etc.)
- Willingness to engage with young children and other staff members
Requirements:
- Ages 18 or older
- High School Diploma
- CPR and First Aid Certified or willing to be certified
- Experience with children (preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
- We conduct random drug testing
PLEASE NOTE: Employees who are made an offer of employment will be required to pass a post-offer pre-employment background process that includes passing a Basic TB and fingerprint test, and completing an online training program. Applicants who do not pass or participate in any of this pre-employment process will have their offer of employment rescinded.
