Job Description

The Hydroform Operator sets up and operates hydroforming equipment to produce high-quality metal parts in a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on precise machine operation, accurate part inspection, adherence to work instructions and preventative maintenance schedules, and maintaining a clean and organized work area while supporting safe and efficient production on a second-shift schedule.

Responsibilities

• Align work pieces accurately on the hydroform machine in accordance with work instructions and production requirements.
• Set up and operate hydroforming presses and related equipment to perform the desired metal forming operations.
• Monitor pressure gauges, height settings, and other machine indicators to ensure equipment is properly set and operating within specified parameters.
• Inspect parts visually and using standard measuring equipment to verify that they meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Follow established work instructions and production procedures to ensure consistent and repeatable results.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe at all times by following 5S methods and housekeeping standards.
• Perform required preventative maintenance procedures on assigned presses within specified time frames.
• Ensure all preventative maintenance tasks are completed in accordance with the preventative maintenance schedule.
• Use manual dexterity to handle small, delicate parts while simultaneously operating hand-held measuring tools.
• Read and comprehend instructions, blueprints, and other documentation in English to correctly set up and run jobs.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding equipment status, quality concerns, and production issues.
• Follow all safety guidelines, including proper handling of equipment and materials, and use appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
• Operate a forklift safely to move materials, parts, and equipment within the manufacturing shop as needed.
• Participate in continuous on-the-job training to improve skills related to machine operation, quality inspection, and maintenance.
• Lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 50 pounds as required by production activities.

Essential Skills

• Experience with hydroforming or similar metal forming processes in a production or fabrication environment.
• Hands-on machine operation experience, including press brake or hydroform press operation.
• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, blueprints, and related documentation in English.
• Strong understanding of pressure gauges, height settings, and other machine controls used in metal forming.
• High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent demonstrated experience for Level 1 Hydroform Operator.
• 2–5 years of demonstrated experience for Level 2 Hydroform Operator.
• 5 or more years of demonstrated experience for Level 3 Hydroform Operator.
• Minimum near and far vision of 20/30 in both eyes (corrected) to perform detailed inspection and machine setup.
• Manual dexterity to handle small, delicate parts and operate hand-held standard measuring equipment simultaneously.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift.
• Ability to drive and operate a forklift in a manufacturing environment.
• Willingness and ability to work 2nd shift (2:00 PM – 10:30 PM, Monday through Friday).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with 5S or similar workplace organization and cleanliness methodologies.
• Comfort working with standard measuring equipment for dimensional verification of parts.
• Ability to work with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals while following safety procedures.
• Capacity to perform physical activities such as walking, sitting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling as required by the job.
• Interest in continuous learning and skill development through on-the-job training.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting customer quality requirements.
• Reliable work habits and ability to follow preventative maintenance schedules and production timelines.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing shop on a 2nd shift schedule, working Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM. The environment involves operating hydroforming presses and related machinery, using pressure gauges, measuring equipment, and forklifts to support production. Noise levels are usually moderate, and there may be occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals, with appropriate safety measures in place. The position requires regular talking, hearing, and use of hands to finger, handle, or feel, as well as frequent reaching with hands and arms, walking, sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Employees must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds. The workplace follows 5S principles, emphasizing cleanliness, organization, and safety, and provides continuous training to enhance skills related to job duties. Overtime is possible but not guaranteed.

This is a Permanent position based out of Phoenix, AZ.

The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $70720.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
