Were looking for a current King County employee to join the Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) Systems Engineering team in a Special Duty Assignment as an Engineer II Systems Engineering and Reporting Analyst playing a vital role in turning data from our business and operational systems into meaningful metrics across multiple facilities including three wastewater treatment plants.

This Special Duty Assignment is a chance to apply your interest in data and reporting and gain hands on experience with the systems that keep WTD running including Maximo GoPlant AVEVA PI and AQI WIMS. Youll document how our systems connect and share data support key applications and help develop the KPIs that help supervisors and division leadership make informed decisions. Its a great next step for someone looking to build skills in data analytics and systems integration while making a direct impact on the environment and communities we serve.

About the Role

As the Systems Engineering and Reporting Analyst youll help WTD build a clearer picture of how our work gets done and where we can improve. WTD relies on a wide range of business and operational systems including Maximo GoPlant AVEVA PI and AQI WIMS. Each holds valuable information but that information lives in separate places. Your work will help connect it into reliable metrics that help staff at every level from frontline supervisors to division leadership make better decisions.

Youll start by mapping how our systems connect and share data creating interface control and data flow documents that will serve as a foundation for current and future reporting. Building on that foundation youll help develop KPIs in Power BI to track asset management maintenance and operational performance gaining hands-on experience with Maximo along the way.

Youll also play a key role in supporting GoPlant including helping formalize the structured support processes that keep it and other systems running reliably.

This work directly supports WTDs mission to protect public health and water quality across the Puget Sound region. Accurate accessible data helps us maintain critical infrastructure prioritize investments and respond to issues before they affect the communities we serve. By making performance data transparent and easy to understand youll help ensure that decisions about service and resources are grounded in evidence and support fair equitable outcomes for all King County residents.

About the Team

King Countys Wastewater Treatment Division (WTD) depends on its Systems Engineering Team to keep the technology behind its operations reliable secure and connected. The team manages WTDs Industrial Control System (ICS) and operational technology (OT) infrastructure across a diverse geographically distributed network while also supporting business and operational systems such as Maximo GoPlant AVEVA PI and AQI WIMS.

With a footprint spanning five treatment plants and nearly 100 offsite facilities the team provides countywide support for infrastructure reliability application performance and cybersecurity. Its work safeguards ICS environments against emerging threats keeps system documentation and standards current and sustains reliable operations at every facility. The team is also working to connect data across WTDs systems turning it into clear trustworthy performance metrics that help the division plan prioritize and improve.

What you will be doing:

• Map and document how WTDs business and operational systems including Maximo GoPlant AVEVA PI and AQI WIMS connect and exchange data developing interface control documents and data flow diagrams that serve as a foundation for reporting and system support
• Assist in the development maintenance and refinement of key performance indicators and dashboards in Power BI to track asset management maintenance and operational performance working with staff to understand their information needs.
• Design and formalize structured support processes for GoPlant and other business systems including documentation request intake issue tracking standard procedures and data QA/QC processes that ensure the data feeding KPIs and reports is accurate and reliable.
• Collaborate with the Systems Engineering Team to develop processes for tracking team tasks and requests including cybersecurity-related work and build associated metrics and reports on workload performance and the cybersecurity tools the team is implementing.

Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills

Qualifications you bring:

• Bachelors degree in engineering a physical science data analytics information systems or a related field or a combination of education certifications and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the specified job duties
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including experience interpreting quantitative or technical data to identify trends issues and opportunities for improvement
• Education or experience demonstrating an understanding of technical or operational processes such as work supporting operational maintenance or technical teams
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar tools for organizing analyzing and presenting data and demonstrated ability to quickly learn new business systems and reporting tools
• Experience developing clear written documentation such as procedures process descriptions or technical reports and communicating effectively with staff at all levels of an organization

• Work Schedule: This full-time position works a 40-hour work week. This position is exempt from the overtime provision of the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) and is not overtime eligible.
• Union Representation : This position is represented by Local 117 WTD
