Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Physician role based at the Minnie Jones Health Center in Asheville, NC. The Physician will provide comprehensive primary care services to a diverse patient population, including diagnosis, treatment, preventive care, and chronic disease management across the lifespan. Daily responsibilities include conducting patient examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and developing evidence-based care plans. The Physician will collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, including behavioral health, dental, nursing, and pharmacy staff, to coordinate care and support patients with complex medical and social needs. Additional duties include accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record, participation in quality improvement initiatives, adherence to FQHC and regulatory requirements, and occasional participation in outreach or patient education activities. Qualifications Current MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school and completion of an accredited residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or a related primary care specialty. Active, unrestricted North Carolina medical license (or eligibility to obtain), current DEA registration, and board certification or board eligibility in an appropriate specialty. Demonstrated clinical skills in primary care, including preventive care, acute and chronic disease management, and age-appropriate screening and counseling. Experience or strong interest in community health, caring for underserved populations, and working within an FQHC or similar safety-net setting. Ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team, including strong communication, collaboration, and care coordination skills. Proficiency with electronic health records, accurate clinical documentation, and basic computer literacy. Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and patient-centered care, including sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, identities, and health beliefs. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage a full patient panel while maintaining quality and compliance standards.
