Located in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood, the campus includes five academic buildings, athletic facilities, and a Head of School residence. Founded in 1975, UHS's mission is to provide a transformational educational experience that fosters a spirited pursuit of learning and a purpose larger than self.UHS seeks an Entry-Level Maintenance Technician to support the maintenance and upkeep of a multi-building campus that includes both historic structures and modern, LEED Platinum–certified facilities. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined, self-motivated individual eager to learn and build a long-term career in facilities maintenance or the skilled trades. You will work closely with and be mentored by a Senior Maintenance Technician.The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to learn. You will gain hands-on experience with a wide range of systems, including HVAC, electrical and plumbing, boilers, elevators, fire and alarm systems, automated doors, irrigation, building management software, and other commercial and campus-specific equipment.UHS is committed to supporting professional growth and values strong interpersonal skills, pride in workmanship, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist with routine maintenance and repairs of building systems (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general mechanical systems)Perform basic troubleshooting and report issues to senior technicians or supervisorsComplete preventive maintenance tasks according to schedules and checklistsMaintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe conditionRespond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional mannerAssist with inspections of facilities and equipmentFollow safety procedures, company policies, and maintenance standardsDocument completed work and report materials or parts neededQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent (required)Driver's license (required)Basic knowledge of tools, equipment, and maintenance practicesWillingness to learn new skills and follow instructionsProfessional attitude and presentationAbility to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, bending, and climbingStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skillsGood communication and teamwork abilitiesReliable attendance and punctualityTechnical school coursework or vocational training (a plus)Previous experience in maintenance, construction, or a related field (not required)Basic understanding of safety regulationsScheduleMonday-Friday 7am-3:30pm, full-time position, may require occasional paid overtime or on-call availabilityWages and BenefitsThis is a full time, non-exempt position with an hourly wage ranging from $26.00 to $32.00, commensurate with experience. UHS welcomes applications from candidates with a wide range of experience.
