Job Title: Supply Chain Manager – Avionics Manufacturing Job Description

This onsite Supply Chain Manager role leads end-to-end supply chain operations for a low-SWaP avionics manufacturer operating under an AS9100D Quality Management System. The position owns sourcing, procurement, inventory, logistics, and ERP-driven planning in support of advanced military and commercial avionics programs, including a major DoD contract for an advanced IFF system. The Supply Chain Manager reports into operations leadership, oversees a logistics specialist, and plays a key role in ensuring on-time delivery, supply chain compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop, qualify, and manage suppliers to support avionics production, ensuring they meet quality, delivery, and cost expectations.
• Maintain and control the Approved Supplier List (ASL), including adding, monitoring, and periodically reviewing suppliers.
• Conduct formal supplier business reviews to evaluate performance, address issues, and align on improvement plans.
• Source materials and components for avionics systems and issue purchase orders through the full procurement lifecycle.
• Manage purchase orders from creation through delivery, including confirmations, expediting, changes, and closure.
• Maintain supplier scorecards tracking on-time delivery (OTD), quality, and cost performance, and report results regularly.
• Measure purchase price variance (PPV) on a monthly basis and implement strategies to improve cost performance.
• Drive supplier corrective actions (SCA/SCAR) in collaboration with Quality Engineering to resolve nonconformances and prevent recurrence.
• Proactively track inbound shipments to ensure materials arrive on time and in full, escalating issues as needed.
• Manage outbound customer deliveries and own customer on-time delivery (OTD) performance, including risk identification and mitigation.
• Identify and escalate supply or capacity risks before they impact committed ship dates, and coordinate recovery plans.
• Own inventory accuracy and working capital targets, balancing service levels with cost and cash objectives.
• Oversee warehouse operations including receiving, inspection release, kitting, storage, and shipping with full AS9100D traceability.
• Ensure proper documentation and traceability for all materials and components in accordance with aerospace and defense requirements.
• Own and administer CSI SyteLine ERP supply chain modules, including configuration, data integrity, and process adherence.
• Maintain high data integrity within the ERP system to support accurate planning, reporting, and decision-making.
• Promote ERP user adoption across supply chain and operations teams through training, guidance, and process standardization.
• Lead the monthly Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process to align demand, supply, and capacity.
• Maintain and manage the Master Production Schedule (MPS) to meet program commitments and customer delivery requirements.
• Validate supplier and internal capacity against program and contract commitments, and recommend adjustments as needed.
• Participate in contract reviews to identify supply chain flow-downs, delivery obligations, and compliance requirements.
• Ensure compliance with DFARS/FAR requirements and relevant military and defense interface standards in supply chain activities.
• Implement and maintain counterfeit parts avoidance processes and controls in line with aerospace and defense standards.
• Manage Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) and obsolescence risk through proactive identification, lifetime buys, and alternate sourcing strategies.
• Support Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) assessments, particularly Thread E supply chain readiness, and close identified gaps.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the supply chain team, including direct oversight of a logistics specialist.
• Apply Lean tools such as value stream mapping (VSM), 5S, kaizen, and kanban to drive continuous improvement in supply chain processes.
• Lead and participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance efficiency, reduce lead times, and improve quality and delivery performance.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, quality, and program management to ensure alignment on supply chain needs and priorities.
• Support strategic planning efforts, including capacity planning, supplier strategy, and long-term sourcing decisions.
• Communicate supply chain status, risks, and opportunities to executive leadership, providing clear recommendations and action plans.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of supply chain or operations experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing.
• Proven experience managing sourcing, procurement, inventory, and logistics in a manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on ERP experience, including ownership of supply chain modules and process configuration.
• Demonstrated experience owning SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) processes.
• Demonstrated experience owning and maintaining a Master Production Schedule (MPS).
• Supplier development experience, including qualification, performance management, and relationship management.
• Experience managing supplier scorecards with metrics such as on-time delivery, quality, and cost.
• Familiarity with defense and military interface and compliance requirements, including DFARS/FAR-related considerations.
• Experience with DMSMS (Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages) and obsolescence management.
• Familiarity with the Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) framework, particularly Thread E supply chain readiness.
• Knowledge of AS9100D quality system requirements and how they apply to supply chain and procurement.
• Strong negotiation skills for managing supplier pricing, terms, and performance.
• Strong procurement skills, including contract terms, risk management, and cost optimization.
• Experience with Lean tools such as value stream mapping (VSM), 5S, kaizen, and kanban.
• Project management skills, including planning, execution, and cross-functional coordination.
• Ability to work effectively in a highly regulated aerospace and defense environment.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance under ITAR/EAR requirements.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• APICS CPIM certification is preferred.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is preferred.
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is preferred.
• Experience with CSI SyteLine ERP is highly desirable.
• Experience supporting advanced avionics programs such as IFF, transponders, or ACAS/DAA modules is beneficial.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop supply chain or logistics teams.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive fact-based decisions.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present supply chain status, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, operations, quality, and program management.
• Comfort working in a rapidly growing organization and adapting to evolving processes and priorities.

Work Environment

The role is fully onsite at an avionics manufacturing facility operating under an AS9100D Quality Management System. The site has approximately 75 employees, including around 55 engineers, creating a highly technical, collaborative environment focused on advanced aerospace and defense systems. The Supply Chain Manager directly oversees one logistics specialist and works closely with engineering, operations, quality, and leadership teams. The position is approximately 60% hands-on execution, 20% executive-facing, and 20% strategic, offering a balance of tactical ownership and high-level planning. The work schedule follows a 9x80 shift structure, with core hours typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and requires consistent onsite presence. The environment emphasizes cutting-edge technology, rapid growth, and continuous improvement, leveraging ERP systems such as CSI SyteLine, Lean tools, and structured processes to support complex aerospace and defense programs.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bingen, WA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $75.00/hr.
