Job Overview The Clinical Nurse II position is a bargaining unit role (Req #79605) at Maine Medical Center's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) in The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital, located in Maine Health's network. Candidates must have more than one year of RN experience. The PICU is a sophisticated facility for pediatric critical care with one positive pressure room and two negative pressure rooms, serving over 450 critically ill children annually with advanced therapies, monitoring, and close medical supervision. The nurse provides assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care, delivering patient and family care across inpatient and outpatient settings. Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education per year. License/Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in the State of Maine. Certification in relevant specialty preferred. Experience: At least 1 year of prior RN work experience; prior PICU experience strongly preferred. Basic knowledge of the research base, theory, practices, principles, and processes of professional nursing. Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members. Analytical ability sufficient to identify changes in patients' conditions and to initiate appropriate action. Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families and to initiate appropriate action. Demonstrates a caring nursing practice and promotes a healing environment for patients and families. Demonstrates the required knowledge and technical skills to care for most patient populations on the unit. Shift information: All shifts are 12 hours and utilize a self‑scheduling model.
