Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support process improvements, manufacturing operations, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will focus on improving production efficiency, reducing costs, optimizing processes, supporting new product introductions, and developing manufacturing solutions.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in manufacturing engineering, metal forming, tooling design, process improvement, and project management.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

• Review manufacturing processes and implement cost-effective improvements focused on setup and changeover time reductions, equipment uptime, and continuous process improvement.

• Support and collaborate closely with Production, Maintenance, Purchasing, Marketing, R&D, Quality, and other teams to implement SOPs, setup instructions, training, and troubleshooting of processes and equipment.

• Work with the Safety team to design and implement safety devices and process improvements where required.

• Analyze and reduce scrap and rework by identifying root causes, implementing corrective actions, and monitoring results in collaboration with the Quality department.

• Provide Manufacturing Engineering support during product line startups, facility upgrades, and process improvements.

• Develop cost reduction proposals related to materials, manufacturing processes, and product design.

• Manage projects, track progress, provide updates, and organize cross-functional teams to complete assigned projects.

• Design tools, jigs, fixtures, and complete manufacturing systems for existing and new processes.

• Support new product development by introducing manufacturing processes and improvements.

• Identify and assist with procuring improved tools, fixtures, and manufacturing equipment.

• Perform layouts of buildings, production lines, and manufacturing systems.

• Prepare initial proposals for capital expense budgets for assigned projects.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives and provide implementation guidance.

• Assist with training on new processes and process improvements.

• Perform inspections on parts, components, tooling, and equipment using standard metrology tools such as micrometers, calipers, and optical comparators.

• Establish and monitor manufacturing process metrics.

• Develop and implement procedures for testing and in-process inspections to ensure quality at the source.

• Recommend, manage, and implement automation equipment ranging from semi-custom to fully custom work centers.

• Plan, specify, troubleshoot, justify, and coordinate cross-functional activities for automation projects and production launches.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.

• 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.

• Strong experience with metal forming processes.

• Experience designing dies, tooling, and fixtures for metal forming applications.

• Ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and develop effective solutions.

• Experience developing training programs for engineering, maintenance, and production teams.

• Experience developing preventative maintenance programs.

• Experience purchasing capital equipment and managing capital projects.

Required Skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to prepare reports, business correspondence, and procedure documentation.

• Ability to present information effectively to managers, teams, customers, and stakeholders.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to collect data, identify issues, and develop solutions.

• Ability to interpret technical drawings, diagrams, and engineering instructions.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

• Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).

• Experience with ERP systems (JD Edwards preferred).
