Camp Director, Waypoint Academy - $150,000/year USD

Crossover for Work

Located on-site at Waypoint Academy in Dripping Springs, Texas $150,000 annual salary as W2 employee with weekly pay. Health benefits begin day one. Relocation assistance provided The best way to support a child is to place something difficult in their hands and refuse to carry it for them. If that statement unsettles you, this role is not for you. If it resonates, read on. Waypoint Academy delivers core academics through self-guided, AI-powered adaptive applications that condense the traditional school day into a concentrated morning session. There are no lectures. This structure frees you to focus on the work that genuinely shifts a child's trajectory. You might begin your morning in a one‑on‑one coaching conversation with a Guide, analyzing student performance data to identify where a cohort needs support. By midday, you're outside facilitating a workshop that builds teamwork and resilience through authentic challenge. Your afternoons are dedicated to motivation work: meeting individually with students, understanding what drives them, and helping a disengaged child move toward their objectives. You maintain your own cohort throughout, ensuring you remain current in the skills you develop in others. You’ve likely been the outlier in education: too focused on data, too oriented toward outcomes, too comfortable taking students outside and allowing them to grapple with difficulty. This may be the first environment that truly fits. You begin coaching other Guides immediately, and as you produce results, the standard you establish influences the entire cohort and your program authority expands. You witness the impact directly: a doubtful student who begins taking ownership of their development, a Guide who sharpens their practice because you gave them honest feedback, a child who emerges from the wilderness more competent than when they entered. Uphold the standard. Take them outside. Apply now. What You Will Be Doing Provide coaching to the Guides working with you: analyze performance metrics, observe their interactions with students, and conclude each session with concrete actions that address performance gaps. Facilitate one‑hour outdoor workshops focused on life skills, where K‑12 students develop leadership, resilience, teamwork, and communication through adventure‑based activities. Conduct motivation sessions informed by student analytics and Coachbot data to ensure every student progresses toward their objectives and takes ownership of their development. Maintain your own student cohort while coaching other Guides, ensuring you lead from active experience rather than past recollection. Monitor student satisfaction, goal attainment, and Guide effectiveness on a weekly basis to identify underperformance early. What You Won’t Be Doing Delivering lectures or providing academic tutoring. Students engage with self‑guided adaptive apps, frequently without adult presence in the room. Creating curriculum or lesson plans from the ground up. Existing playbooks define the work; your focus is on execution fidelity and energy, not innovation. Training Guides on instructional methods. Since Guides do not lecture, you coach them on motivation, accountability, and their presence with students. Compromising standards to maintain harmony. You will not advance a student prematurely or overlook a Guide's inadequate performance. Confining students indoors and in chairs. A significant portion of learning at Waypoint occurs outdoors through challenge‑based experiences.
