Senior Python Developer

The Senior Python Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining mission-critical enterprise applications with a strong focus on backend development, API integrations, and system modernization. This role supports a core monolithic platform built with Python and Django while driving architectural improvements, mentoring engineers, and delivering scalable, high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Python, Django, TypeScript, API development, and full-stack application engineering. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Python and Django. Enhance and support a core monolithic application responsible for processing and orchestration. Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and integration services for internal systems. Build and enhance full-stack applications with a strong emphasis on backend development and TypeScript. Develop and maintain integrations supporting enterprise platform functionality. Perform system modernization, performance improvements, and platform stability enhancements. Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions. Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent solutions. Participate in production support and on‑call rotations. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including product, platform, and business stakeholders. Mentor junior engineers and promote software engineering best practices. Communicate technical concepts effectively with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and engineering standards. Required Qualifications 7+ years of professional software engineering experience. Strong hands‑on experience with Python development. Full‑stack development experience with a strong backend focus. Extensive experience developing RESTful APIs and service‑oriented architectures. Strong experience with TypeScript for frontend and backend development. Experience working with MySQL databases. Strong knowledge of software architecture, system design, and application development best practices. Strong analytical, debugging, troubleshooting, and problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills. Ability to independently solve complex technical problems and deliver scalable solutions. Preferred Qualifications Experience in healthcare technology, clinical laboratory, or genomics environments. Experience with AWS cloud services and cloud‑native application development. Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized application deployments. Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
