MRI Technologist

$34.45 - $51.68 per hour

Overview Perform advanced MRI imaging procedures to produce high-quality diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and exceptional care throughout the imaging process. This role operates specialized MRI equipment, administers contrast media, performs complex and specialized studies, maintains strict MRI safety standards, and collaborates with physicians and radiologists to support accurate diagnosis and treatment. Shift & Compensation 40 hours per week. Days shift. Eligible for sign‑on bonus. Pay range: $34.45 - $51.68 per hour. Responsibilities Perform procedures or examinations under the order of a licensed medical practitioner for diagnostic interpretation. Prepare patients for procedures and provide instruction to obtain desired results and minimize anxiety. Maintain knowledge of current MRI safety practices and apply principles and policies of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk. Review patients’ clinical history to ensure the appropriate scan is ordered and labs are within range; review with radiologist/provider as necessary. Select and operate the magnetic resonance system, surface coils, physiologic gating devices, and associated equipment. Report and document MRI safety incidents/adverse events per protocol. Position the patient and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability, safety and comfort. Immobilize patients as required for appropriate examination. Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols. Start and maintain intravenous access, including power injectable implanted ports/specialized lines. Assist with medical record/image sharing as necessary. Operate MRI scanner, injector and produce cross‑section images for diagnostic purposes. Document all information pertinent to the MRI procedure in the electronic medical record. Verify consent/screening form for all entering Zone IV. Prepare and administer contrast media orally and intravenously while maintaining aseptic technique. Assist the physician with interventional procedures. Provide practical instruction to students and partners. Evaluate images and data for technical quality; manipulate and reconstruct digital data for display. Perform independent high‑level MRI studies, such as cardiac studies, run offs, conditional device protocols, and MRI procedural studies. Assume responsibility for the physical and psychological needs of patients during procedures. Use radiology information systems (including PACS) to complete records and reports, archive and submit images for physician review. Initiate basic life support action when necessary. Education & Experience Graduate of an accredited radiography program or accredited MRI training program. Minimum 1–3 years of experience preferred; new graduates considered. Certification & Licensure ARRT (MR) if completed the MRI Primary pathway required upon hire. ARRT (R) with requirement to obtain the MR Credential within 2 years of hire. ARMRIT Credential required upon hire only if the candidate does not hold an ARRT-approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days. CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days.
