Transformation is charged with the global responsibility to manage Alcoa’s identified environmental liabilities and assets at closed locations and to provide technical assistance for operating locations’ waste management needs to meet overall financial and risk avoidance goals.This role is responsible for providing strategic technical support to Transformation Locations for all aspects relating to impoundment operations, maintenance, and closure, and ensuring adherence to the Global Industry Standard for Tailings Management (GISTM) and Alcoa’s Impoundment Management System (IMS). This role will also serve as the Geotechnical Engineering Lead for the Integrated Closure Committee leading initiatives to enhance processes for Global site closure planning and Asset Retirement Obligation cost estimating.Technical Lead – Integrated Closure CommitteeProvide strategic technical input into the development of Global policies, standards, and guidelines establishing the framework to ensure implementation of cost-effective closure solutions that meet applicable regulatory and Alcoa requirements.Perform technical gap assessments of site closure plans and associated cost estimates and support development of gap closure plans.Provide recommendations to optimize the geotechnical designs, construction, and monitoring of Global closure strategies and designsConduct risk assessments and readiness reviews for closure execution.Technical Consultant – Technical Support for Transformation Closure ProjectsPerform technical reviews of studies, data, and reports including geotechnical investigation reports, seepage analyses, closure designs, monitoring data, QA/QC protocols, and related documents.Provide technical guidance to Locations to perform required geotechnical site investigations, stability analyses, closure works, and maintenance and monitoring activities.Interpret monitoring data and recommend modifications to optimize operations and maintenance programs.Perform site visits to support development of closure plans, optimize O&M Programs, and provide technical support during active construction projects.Technical Consultant – GISTM & Alcoa IMS Program Oversight, Maintenance, and OptimizationProvide technical support to Locations to develop scopes of work, review deliverables, and perform risk assessments for various impoundment projects.Oversee program maintenance requirements to ensure ongoing conformance with Alcoa requirements while actively identifying opportunities to improve program efficiency and reduce risk.Coordinate internal assurance reviews and external audits related to impoundment management with project teams.Update technical standards, guidelines, and procedures based on lessons learned and industry standard practices.Coordinate collection of relevant site data from the locations to support internal reporting requirements.General Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Geology, Civil Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.Master’s degree preferred in: Geotechnical Engineering, Geological Engineering, or similar field.PE or PG license is preferred.Minimum of 5 years’ progressive geotechnical engineering experience working on projects in an industrial, mining, process, manufacturing, or similar environmentSound knowledge of internationally recognized tailings management standards and industry guidelines such as ICMM, ANCOLD, MAC/CDA, and GISTM.Demonstrated experience in geotechnical engineering aspects of tailings dam closure planning, execution, and monitoring.Experience performing geotechnical investigations, slope stability analyses and consolidation modelling. Experience performing geotechnical risk assessments in accordance with industry practices, including evaluation of structural stability, and long‑term performance of legacy impoundments.Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with demonstrated ability to challenge effectively and drive outcomes.Strong organizational and time management skills, capacity to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and drive aggressive implementation plans and schedulesTravel requirements up to 15%_____________________________________________________________________________Chez Alcoa, vous pouvez contribuer à façonner la façon dont les responsabilités liées aux passifs environnementaux complexes et à la fermeture sont gérées à l’échelle d’un portefeuille mondial. Vous contribuerez à assurer l’alignement avec la Global Industry Standard for Tailings Management (GISTM) et le système de gestion des bassins de retenue d’Alcoa (IMS), tout en agissant comme responsable de l’ingénierie géotechnique pour le comité intégré de fermeture afin d’améliorer la planification globale de la fermeture des sites et l’estimation des coûts liés aux obligations de mise hors service des actifs. Responsabilités clés Diriger les contributions géotechniques aux politiques, normes, lignes directrices, plans de fermeture et estimations de coûts à l’échelle mondiale afin de soutenir des solutions rentables qui répondent aux exigences réglementaires et à celles d’Alcoa. Évaluer les écarts techniques dans les plans de fermeture des sites, les estimations de coûts et l’état de préparation à l’exécution, puis soutenir l’élaboration de plans concrets pour les combler. Examiner les études géotechniques, les rapports d’investigation, les analyses d’infiltration, les conceptions de fermeture, les données de surveillance, les protocoles d’assurance et de contrôle de la qualité ainsi que les livrables techniques connexes. Conseiller les sites sur les investigations géotechniques, les analyses de stabilité, les travaux de fermeture, les activités d’entretien, les programmes de surveillance et les évaluations des risques. Soutenir la supervision de la gestion des bassins de retenue en maintenant les exigences des programmes GISTM et IMS, en coordonnant les examens d’assurance et les audits, et en identifiant les occasions d’améliorer l’efficacité et de réduire les risques. Utiliser les leçons apprises, les données des sites et les pratiques de l’industrie pour mettre à jour les normes techniques, les lignes directrices, les procédures et les exigences de rapports internes. Ce que vous apportez au rôle Un baccalauréat en génie géotechnique, en géologie, en génie civil ou dans une discipline d’ingénierie étroitement liée; une maîtrise en génie géotechnique, en génie géologique ou dans un domaine similaire est un atout. Au moins cinq années d’expérience progressive en ingénierie géotechnique dans un environnement industriel, minier, de procédé, manufacturier ou similaire. Une connaissance des normes et lignes directrices internationalement reconnues en gestion des résidus, notamment ICMM, ANCOLD, MAC/CDA et GISTM, afin de soutenir des décisions techniques cohérentes et éclairées. Une expérience en planification, exécution et surveillance de la fermeture de barrages de résidus, ainsi qu’en investigations géotechniques, analyses de stabilité des pentes, modélisation de la consolidation et évaluations des risques pour des bassins de retenue existants. De solides compétences en communication, relations interpersonnelles, influence, organisation et gestion du temps pour remettre en question de façon constructive, prioriser le travail, gérer plusieurs initiatives et obtenir des résultats. Un engagement démontré envers les pratiques de travail sécuritaires et la conscience des risques lors de l’examen des conceptions, de l’évaluation des conditions sur le terrain, du soutien aux visites de sites et des conseils liés aux bassins de retenue et aux activités de fermeture; un permis PE ou PG est un atout, et des déplacements peuvent être requis jusqu’à 15 % du temps.
