Clinical Research Scientist

Role Overview The Global Pain Clinical Research Scientist (CRS) provides scientific and clinical expertise across the drug development lifecycle and clinical trial phases. Develop and contribute to the global medical plan and develop/conduct clinical trials from design through regulatory submission and post-launch support. Ensure activities comply with applicable regulations (FDA, ICH, GCP), company policy, and Lilly medical principles. Serve as a scientific/medical resource to study teams and cross-functional stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Clinical Planning Stay updated on pre-clinical/clinical data for molecules in Pain and Neuroscience. Contribute to global alignment of clinical strategy and plans with LRL/NBU priorities. Ensure lifecycle plans for drugs in development meet Phase 3, 3b, and 4 customer needs. Contribute to launch label strategy, value proposition, and lifecycle planning. Partner cross-functionally on study design, clinical strategies, and protocol design. Clinical Trial Execution Align stakeholders on protocol design, conduct, and reporting; advise on execution. Review briefing documents, protocols, investigator brochures, study reports, and submissions. Review/approve informed consent documents and risk profiles. Monitor patient safety; track and follow up adverse events. Support investigator selection, site training, and study start-up. Interpret clinical results; plan data analysis. Scientific Acumen and Communication Maintain compliance with laws/regulations and global policies. Apply knowledge of Pain/Neurologic disease and clinical research methodology. Support publications, meetings with HCPs, investigator/media responses, and external collaborations. Train investigators/site personnel and support Lilly medical training. Regulatory Support Support local labeling development/modifications and regulatory report/submission preparation. Support local registration efforts and resolution of regulatory issues. Business & Commercial Support Partner with brand/marketing to develop medical strategies and identify Phase 3b/4 studies. Address scientific information needs of payers/patients/providers via Phase 3b/4 studies and analyses. Professional Development & Leadership Contribute to medical strategies for Global Pain and Neuroscience and commercialization. Mentor/train teams; maintain required training/compliance; participate in DEI/coaching/improvement. Minimum Qualifications Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, DVM, MSN/NP, or related) + 5+ years clinical/pharmaceutical experience; OR BS/MS in health/medical/scientific field + 7-10 years relevant pharmaceutical experience. Required/If Applicable If drug discovery/development only (no direct clinical trial experience): documented ownership of medical/scientific content development; BU Medical Affairs/Development VP or senior leadership endorsement. All Candidates Must Demonstrate Balance scientific and business priorities; strong communication/interpersonal/negotiation; ability to influence cross-functionally; travel as needed; English fluency.
