Job Description:

Rutherford Ranch Winery is seeking a part-time/on-call Wine Ambassador/Host.

Join our energetic and fast paced team as we continue to deliver warm and genuine guest experiences. We’re looking for the right people who love creating connections with guests, and who want to share in the rewards of hitting goals, growing our business, and making customers happy. Essentially, you have the “Hospitality Gene.” And you know the difference between the guest-facing and backstage worlds.

Working in a team environment, you will increase sales of Rutherford Ranch wines and promote the brand through a series of outstanding guest experiences. You will provide education and conduct interactive and lively tours for winery visitors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Customer Service, Wine Education, Hosting Seated Tasting & Tours: (80%)
•  Responsible for promoting sales, goodwill, and the perception of Rutherford Ranch to winery visitors. Develop and maintain a close working relationship with the key customers, instilling the culture and philosophy of the company, and awareness of new buying opportunities
•  Practice “power of yes” hospitality…anticipate a guest’s request, and always offer a warm welcome and fond farewell
•  Assist visitors by providing information and the benefits of enrolling in the Wine Club
•  Act as a concierge who recommends restaurants and local Napa Valley attractions
•  You are very confident and experienced in the art of leading exceptional tours; you are equally effective and engaging with a group of 4 as you are with 30; you provide a wonderful vineyard “terroir” experience and know how to make it irresistible for guests to purchase our best wines
•  You are highly motivated to achieve and surpass sales goals
•  You excel in converting guests into Club Members
•  You understand all the best practices of hosting seated Reserve tastings for parties of up 8
•  You instinctively know how to close a sale and have a proven track record of selling high-end wine
•  Share your knowledge and passion about Rutherford Ranch and TORCIA wines; you love knowing you are selling small, exclusive Reserve wines available only in the Tasting Room
•  You are highly skilled in Commerce 7 and can quickly and accurately ring up your sales
•  Ensure that guests are added to the reservation calendar and Commerce 7 CRM

Administrative and Inventory: (15%)
•  Timely input of shipping orders with follow through by phone, email
•  Place guests into reservation and CRM systems, with high level of detail
•  Help monitor Tasting Room inventory and supplies levels, and alert the manager of suggested order placements; assist with monthly physical inventory

Education: (5%)
Maintain, update and expand knowledge of viticulture and enology by participating in related educational opportunities sponsored by the winery and outside sources
Participate in team sales and hospitality training sessions

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or, equivalent years of experience. Aptitude and basic understanding of sales environment in selling wine through one on one customer interaction and customer relationship marketing.

Skills:
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills and be comfortable in front of large and small audiences. Team player dedicated to providing exceptional customer service. Independently motivated to recognize and resolve issues as they arise.

Knowledge:
Exhibit significant understanding, desire and ability to image, promote and sell the wines of Rutherford Ranch.

Physical:
Ability and desire to work on needed days, which will include weekends and holidays. (I.e., you instinctively want to work on the busy days when you have the biggest impact.) Capacity to work on feet for the majority of an 8-hour day. Ability to lift, move and stack forty pounds. Must pass physical and drug test.
