Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Turion Space is seeking a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our growing team in Irvine, CA. You'll be joining our Quality organization at a foundational moment, helping define how we do quality, not just operating within a system that's already set in stone. Working closely with our Senior Manager of Quality & Mission Assurance, you'll help build out inspection processes, calibration systems, and QMS procedures as we scale, while also owning the day-to-day quality operations that keep us compliant and running today.This is a high-impact, high-autonomy role for someone who thrives on solving problems at the source, not just documenting them. You'll have real influence over how our processes, tooling, and documentation take shape as the team grows. It's a great fit for an engineer who can move fluidly between the shop floor and the conference room, someone who can read a CMM report and interpret GD&T callouts in the morning, then negotiate a disposition path with a customer or supplier in the afternoon.Key ResponsibilitiesBuilding & Maturing the Quality FunctionHelp build and continuously improve QMS procedures, inspection processes, and quality infrastructure as our processes and product lines matureMonitor quality systems and perform trend analysis to proactively identify systemic issues and design lasting process improvementsNCR / RCCAWork open Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) end-to-end: containment, root cause investigation, disposition, and closureResearch applicable industry specs and technical data to support disposition decisions, and provide resolution guidance to engineering, operations, and program stakeholdersInspection & CalibrationDevelop and maintain inspection plans, including reviewing GD&T and CMM inspection reports as part of NCR investigationsEstablish and monitor the calibration system to ensure measurement equipment remains compliant and audit-readyContracts & SuppliersPerform contract review to ensure quality requirements flow correctly from customer to supplierMonitor supplier quality performanceCompliance & Continuous ImprovementKeep the company compliant to applicable aerospace quality standards (e.g., AS9100) and customer contractual requirements; support internal and customer audits as neededMinimum QualificationsB.S. degree (Engineering, STEM, or related technical field)7+ years of Quality Engineering experience in aerospace/defense manufacturingComfortable working across mechanical, composite, and electrical product lines (software experience a plus)Strong working knowledge of GD&T, including the ability to read and interpret CMM inspection reportsDemonstrated experience with NCR/CAR processes and root cause corrective action methodologyExperience with inspection process development and calibration systemsExperience with contract review and flow-down of quality requirementsProficient with Microsoft 365 and office toolsEligible to obtain a U.S. Security ClearancePreferred QualificationsExperience building or standing up quality processes at a growing company, not just operating within a mature systemExperience with ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite/ION) and PLM tools (Arena), plus Jira and ConfluencePrior audit experience (internal or customer/regulatory)Familiarity with supplier quality monitoring and managementSenior Quality Assurance Engineer Salary Range: $120,000 - $160,000Employees may be asked to support alternate shifts, extended shifts, and/or travel during peak work periods.ITAR Requirements:This position may include access to technology and/or software source code that is subject to U.S. export controls.
