Job Summary
We are seeking a English/Spanish speaking dynamic and detail-oriented Optician specializing in Optical Sales to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will serve as a key point of contact for patients and customers, providing expert guidance on eyewear options, lens choices, and optical solutions This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to blend retail sales expertise with clinical understanding in a fast-paced, supportive environment committed to improving vision health.
Duties
- Assist customers in selecting eyewear frames and lenses that meet their needs, preferences, and prescriptions
- Dispense spectacle lenses accurately, ensuring proper fit and alignment through eyewear adjustments
- Conduct comprehensive eyewear fittings and frame adjustments to optimize comfort and vision correction
- Operate POS systems and cash registers efficiently to process sales transactions while maintaining accuracy
- Provide detailed explanations of lens options, coatings, and optical features using medical terminology accessible to patients
- Maintain patient records in EMR/EHR systems while adhering to HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
- Collaborate with optometrists and laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of prescriptions and laboratory work
- Educate patients on eye health, including basic physiology, anatomy of the eye, and importance of regular eye exams
- Follow health regulation policies related to aseptic techniques during equipment handling and eyewear adjustments
- Support retail management by maintaining inventory levels of frames, lenses, and optical supplies
Skills
- Experience with optical laboratory procedures including spectacle lens dispensing and eyewear frame adjustment
- Laboratory experience in optical settings or retail optometry environments is highly desirable
- Knowledge of medical billing practices and basic medical coding procedures is a plus
- Competence in vital signs measurement when applicable for senior or pediatric patient care contexts
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently within a clinical or retail setting
