Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Float/Med Surg/Telemetry/Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 24 months in Progressive Care, Stepdown, Med Surg, Tele, or Med/Tele License: Active Iowa/IA license or compact/multistate license Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) Must-Have: Experience, comfort, and proficiency with heparin, insulin, lasix, amiodarone, diltiazem, and digoxin drips Ability to comfortably and confidently read EKG/ECG, including all telemetry-related duties and responsibilities EPIC EMR experience Description: Nurses in this position will float across various units based on staffing needs. Primary care will be in Med Surg, floating across units where assistance is needed most based on census and staffing. Nurses must complete Basic Dysrhythmia Assessment, scoring 80% or higher during onboarding. Experience with tele reads and drips is required. Nurses are required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays unless the unit is closed. First-time travelers are accepted with a minimum of 2 years of hospital or medical center experience. A de-escalation certificate is preferred but can be obtained during onboarding. This position may also require the completion of an NIH Stroke Scale certificate, which is a nice-to-have qualification. Professional references from supervisors or managers within the last 24 months are preferred.
