Endoscopy RN and Technician PositionUnit Notes ***#1 busiest Endo department within all of CommonSpirit*** # suites 2 # of procedures/day 5-25 - second busiest endo department in CSH CaliforniaRequired Certifications (i.e., BLS, ACLS?): RNs - BLS, ACLS RequiredDuties:RNs cover all 3 phases. Recovering of MAC sedation & procedural sedation - all intubated patients go to PACU. We do bedside procedures in the ER & ICU when needed. With MAC cases, the nurse circulates & with procedural sedation, there is a circulator & sedator. Techs are in every room except bronchs.Common Cases EGDs, colonoscopies, ERCPs, Bronchs, EUS, PEGExperience or 'Must have' skills RNs & Techs must have at least 2 years' experience. RNs - experience with procedural sedation is required. Call experience required for both RNs & Techs. Techs - experience with OER Pro elite and lite machines & also with ERCP is requiredCharge Nurse/House Supervisor on each shift? Charge nurse every shift M-FAre there techs in this department? What are their duties? Techs take care of assisting physicians with all procedures except bronchs (RT does this). They manage equipment & stock rooms & do all scope care. We have 3.5 techs.Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc) NoneShifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): Shift length noted in submission with varied start times NO Block schedulingWeeknight/Call Requirements in Rotation with other staff. Weekend/Call Requirements RNs - weekend call is usually 1 day from 7a to 7a the next morning Techs - weekend call is from 7A Saturday to 6A Monday. Call is shared with all techs Holiday/Call Requirements For both RNs & Techs - holiday call is in rotation & expected to do 1 major holiday & 1 minorWhat is call response time? 30 minutesFloating Requirements No floating outside of the Endoscopy/GI lab - however, there are 2 campuses & could travel between the 2 (they are 7 minutes apart) Scrub Color/Dress Code OR scrubs provided Unit/Department specific orientation Will be dependent on experience & how comfortable they are. Usually 2-3 days.
