Cost Estimating Engineer — Steel & Concrete Pressure Pipe

Your day at Thompson Pipe GroupMorning starts with bid invitations and a quick sync with Sales to lock in market strategy. You translate that strategy into an estimating plan, reviewing drawings and specs for steel and concrete pressure pipe systems used across North America. Next, you perform quantity takeoffs, build cost models for standard and special products, and assess constructability and site risks. You consult Engineering, Project Coordination, and plant operations to validate technical assumptions, manufacturing methods, and schedules.Through the afternoon, you fine-tune proposals, ensure compliance with industry, regulatory, and contractual requirements, and update our cost databases. You revise estimating procedures as needed and document lessons learned. You may be asked to prepare alternate design cost analyses for other teams and to source direct cost data with our Data Processing group.
