TMCI is seeking an experienced Full Stack Engineer to design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain enterprise applications supporting federal government customers. The Full Stack Engineer will be responsible for developing solutions across the complete application stack, including user interfaces, backend services, APIs, databases, cloud infrastructure, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.

 

This position will support new application development, enterprise application modernization, system integration, cloud migration, and sustainment of federal systems. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to identify opportunities to improve application architecture, development processes, automation, performance, and reliability.

 

Occasional after-hours support, deployments, or maintenance activities may be required based on program requirements. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, document, and integrate APIs and web services
• Develop scalable backend services and applications using technologies such as Node.js, Python, or similar platforms
• Build the React/TypeScript interface based on defined application requirements
• Design PostgreSQL schemas with strong access control, effective-dated policy and auditability
• Develop and implement deterministic and configurable business rules
• Own end to end application functionality through migration, API, user interface, tests and containerized deployment
• Leverage AI engineering tools throughout workflow approved for use in the customer environment
• Develop responsive, accessible, and user-friendly web applications using modern front-end frameworks
• Design and optimize relational and/or NoSQL databases, including data models, schemas, queries, indexes, and stored procedures
• Develop solutions that integrate with existing enterprise applications, databases, APIs, and external systems
• Implement authentication, authorization, encryption, auditing, input validation, and other application security controls
• Participate in code reviews and promote software engineering standards, coding conventions, reusable components, and maintainable architecture
• Troubleshoot application defects, performance issues, integration problems, and production incidents across the full technology stack
• Develop and deploy applications within cloud environments such as Cloud One, AWS, or Azure
• Develop technical documentation, architecture diagrams, API documentation, deployment documentation, and system design artifacts
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
• Work closely with government customers and subject matter experts to understand requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions
• Analyze existing applications and recommend improvements related to scalability, performance, maintainability, security, and user experience

 

Required Qualifications:

• US Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution
• Work Location: Hybrid, Mclean, Virginia, or within the continental United States
• Work Schedule: Predominantly Eastern Time (EST) business hours to support customers and geographically distributed teams
• 10+ years of analytical and software development experience, with demonstrated full-stack development experience
• Demonstrated experience developing both front-end and back-end applications
• Strong experience with production Node.js
• Strong understanding of TypeScript
• Hands-on professional experience building React applications with TypeScript
• Experience designing and developing APIs and web services
• Strong PostgreSQL fluency- query plans, indexes, transactions and migrations
• Demonstrated experience using AI coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor), including reviewing and testing generated code and following the environment's approved-tool and data-handling rules
• Experience with Cloud One, AWS, Azure, or another enterprise cloud platform
• Experience developing and maintaining automated software tests
• Experience deploying containerized applications (e.g., Docker) through CI/CD pipelines
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional technical teams

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Kubernetes and DoD software factory environments (e.g., Platform One, Kessel Run)
• Experience with OIDC/SAML, PKI/CAC authentication, and OpenTelemetry
• Security Engineering experience
• Experience supporting U.S. federal government customers, particularly DoD, DHA, or other federal healthcare or civilian agencies
• Experience developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitLab, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
• Experience with accessibility and Section 508 requirements
• Experience supporting systems subject to NIST, RMF, FISMA, or other federal cybersecurity requirement.
• Familiarity with IL4/IL5 environments and DoD DevSecOps practices
• Experience with legacy application modernization and cloud migration
• Experience with Agile development frameworks such as SAFe
• AWS, Azure, or other relevant professional certifications
• Experience building rules engines, policy or eligibility logic, or effective-dated data models (e.g., healthcare, insurance, benefits, or financial systems)
• Active security clearance or favorably adjudicated federal background investigation
