Position Sales & Purchasing Assistant Manager Summary The role involves assisting the Vice President in generating and coordinating new business opportunities, establishing relationships with customers and suppliers, and exploring profitable new product possibilities. Responsibilities include managing communication between domestic and offshore stakeholders, coordinating sales and purchasing activities, developing pricing strategies, and ensuring smooth project timelines and customer service strategies. Responsibilities Assists the Vice President with the generation, management, development & coordination of new business opportunities for the company. Establish relationships with customers and suppliers to assure that customer needs can be met. Explore opportunities for new products that are within the capability of the company to produce profitably. Communicate with parent company and other offshore suppliers or customers frequently translating the information to domestic management. Assist with development of plans for growing the business through new customers & new products. Coordinate new business gained through the manufacturing stage. Assist with the preparation & presentation of competitive pricing for approval by the VP assuring profitability goals are attainable. Participate with the development & implementation of customer service strategies to assure long term relationships are established. Coordinate sales & purchasing activity with offshore & domestic customers & vendors. Work with departmental management to develop effective new product launch strategies. Communicate with customer to keep abreast of order changes, troubleshooting, or addressing issues. Providing information regarding orders, changes, new business, etc from the customer to each functional area on a timely basis. Negotiating with customers and suppliers regarding new business or pricing. Communicating with parent company sales representatives regarding existing or potential business for the company. Representing company business needs to parent company, customers and suppliers in conjunction with the Vice President. Preparing and presenting accurate business forecast for the company. Developing the initial new project time lines and following up on the progress to keep the customer, suppliers and company's management advised. Frequent travel to customer locations, suppliers, potential customers & suppliers, and parent company locations as required. Serve as technical interpreter between Japanese enterprises & US management. When bilingual skills are available, translation & interpretation skills will be used to accurately communicate critical information between company and others. Physical Requirements 50% sedentary work. Frequent long days and weeks. Maintain a fast pace with all work. 50% travel including extended trips to international destinations. Working Hours and Style 8:00-17:00 Location Columbus IN Salary and Benefits 60k-80k Saturday Sunday Holiday Qualifications Bachelors of Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering or related fields preferred or the equivalent in related experience. Two (2) years previous experience in OEM automotive parts sales role. Advanced MS Office skills (e.g. XL, Word, etc.), plus CAD, CAM. Must be able to read & interpret blueprints at the conceptual level. Highly organized with advanced time management skills. Bilingual (English & Japanese). #J-18808-Ljbffr
