Systems Administrator

The Advanced Sensor Systems and Test Beds Group (Group 33) conducts exciting research in the development and demonstration of advanced sensor systems and command and control (C2) architectures for the U.S. Government. The group incorporates emerging technologies in autonomy, distributed systems, signal and data processing algorithms, and open system architectures into system design concepts, enabling innovative solutions to complex problems. Major activities within the group include RF system design and development, system modeling and simulation, signal processing algorithm development, experimental field testing and data analysis, and development of one-of-a-kind operational and experimental test assets. The group emphasizes collaborative research, and has expertise in technical fields including HF radar and communications, adaptive signal processing, space-time adaptive processing, Kalman filtering, radar systems analysis, CFAR detection, bistatic radar, and real-time signal processing. Our technical staff members hold advanced degrees in electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, and computer science. The group also conducts local and international field testing and data collection to investigate and demonstrate new concepts.

Job Description

The Group is seeking a candidate with experience and knowledge of multiple operating system platforms with strong Windows and LINUX proficiency required. The candidate will be supporting group AND experimental environments, responsibilities include: computer system configurations and upgrades; identification of system performance issues and user needs, recommendation of specific changes and upgrades; assist staff with computer and network problems and tasks.

Additional duties include:

• Explore and recommend commercial hardware and software products to meet project and group requirements.
• Order hardware and software products; renew software licenses to ensure continuity of service.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks with minimal supervision are required.
• Must be able to create documentation on systems to satisfy certification, technical staff, and end users, as well as formulate, execute and maintain an asset lifecycle management plan.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and networking problems is required.
• Work experience in mission critical environments is highly desirable.

The candidate will demonstrate a collaborative, service-based approach to IT administration, infrastructure support and future capability development. Proactive planning and implementation for day-to-day IT needs as well as for program support is a plus. Will maintain frequent contact with group staff, internal Lincoln Laboratory IT and IT security departments, program sponsor representatives. Candidates must be able to work in a fast-paced environment; be detail oriented, able to multi-task, work with limited supervision and work well with staff and management. Strong problem solving skills will be required to come up with innovative solutions to challenging problems. Execute project and administrative tasks with a high degree of quality.

Required Experience:

• Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or other related scientific or technical discipline, or equivalent related experience. 
• 4+ Years IT and Windows (Workstation, Server) Administration.
• Experience and knowledge required to manage, monitor, troubleshoot and maintain the integrity and security of servers and systems.
• Windows System Administration; active directory tools, system builds.
• LINUX proficiency
• Network Storage
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS and LDAP
• IT Security - vulnerability remediation, network design, logging. Develop and implementation of System Security Plans for unique and system and operating requirements outside established security policy.
• Knowledge of computer hardware (including peripheral equipment), software packages and communication and network technology.

Desired Experience:

• Working knowledge of Virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, etc.).
• Bachelor's is preferred

Hiring Range: $80,800 -$105,100
