Transportation Manager

Role Description The Transportation Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at AMMI’s Sioux Falls, SD facility. This position oversees daily transportation operations, including scheduling and dispatching deliveries, coordinating routes, and ensuring timely, accurate shipment of lumber and building materials to independent retail customers. The Transportation Manager monitors fleet performance and maintenance needs, partners with warehouse and operations teams to optimize loading and delivery processes, and ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. The role includes regular interaction with customers and drivers to resolve issues, improve service levels, and maintain clear communication about delivery status. The Transportation Manager also analyzes transportation costs, identifies efficiency improvements, and supports continuous improvement initiatives within the distribution network. Qualifications Strong Transportation Management and Fleet Management skills to oversee routing, dispatch, vehicle utilization, and maintenance coordination. Operations Management experience to align transportation activities with warehouse, inventory, and overall distribution goals. Customer Service and Communication skills to manage delivery expectations, address service issues, and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external partners. Ability to work on-site in Sioux Falls, SD and lead drivers and support staff in a fast-paced distribution environment. Knowledge of DOT regulations, safety standards, and transportation compliance requirements. Proficiency with transportation or logistics software and basic data analysis for route optimization and cost control.
