The primary function of this job is to gather information, perform various pre-operative tests and ensure that patients are escorted through the diagnostic testing process in an efficient, complete and timely manner that models the customer service policy of the hospital. The nurse must demonstrate the ability to adjust to changing workflow assignments in a fast paced work unit and work as a team member, performing other duties as assigned. Essential Functions Consistently demonstrates premier customer service and communication skills with all internal and external customers/contacts to ensure the patient and their family members have the best hospital encounter possible Provides pre‑op testing of surgical patients in the Pre-Admission Testing Clinic according to policy/procedure and care standards. Maintains knowledge of medications, equipment, expected patient outcomes and anticipated complications. Coordinates patient care with the multidisciplinary team, prioritizing the needs of the patient and the department. Demonstrates the ability to interpret and implement physician orders. Demonstrates the ability to perform various skills used in Pre-Admission testing, i.e. phlebotomy, acquisition of EKGs, vital signs and other as indicated on physician orders. Satisfactorily demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties outlined in this job description as well as continually demonstrates competency in performing the job duties. Qualifications Current Registered Nurse with the State of Oklahoma required. 1 year clinical experience preferred; previous surgery or critical care experience preferred. Venipuncture and EKG experience required. Must have strong communication skills. Must be detail oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
