JT Wimsatt Contracting Company, Inc., is a structural concrete contractor dedicated to delivering projects from conception to completion. We are looking for a VDC Specialist with hands-on experience in 3D modeling for construction projects (laser scanning and reality capture is a plus!). You'll be responsible for turning raw point cloud data into precise, usable models that help drive coordination, layout, and verification - ensuring the work in place matches the design intent.

This is a full-time, on-site role that can be worked out of our Valencia, CA headquarters or San Diego regional office.

Position Requirements

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Generate 2D drawings derived from a 3D model using either Tekla Structures or Revit

• Interpret data taken from 3D laser scanning of active construction sites for layout verification, progress tracking, and as-built documentation

• Create 3D model using Tekla Structures or Revit

• Attend group & coordination meetings and be prepared to discuss any potential conflicts with proposed design

• Modify model and post responses with any new information regularly

• Work closely with field engineers, superintendents, and detailing/VDC team to ensure accurate spatial alignment across all trades

• Distribute shop drawings to the field team

• Travel between Southern California projects as needed

• Occasionally stands, sits, crouches, kneels, stoops, lifts, carries, pushes, or pulls up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of VDC experience

• Associate's Degree in Construction Management/Technology, Drafting, or CAD, or adequate and relative experience in lieu of degree

• Construction experience preferred

• Proficient in plan/blueprint reading

• Proficient with Tekla Structures or Revit

• Excellent computer skills, including ability and enthusiasm to learn new software

• Must be well organized, collaborative, and proactive

• Time management and ability to meet deadlines imperative

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills between field and office personnel

In addition, experience or a willingness to learn any of the following

• Bluebeam, BIM 360, Navisworks, Autocad, Plan Grid, Procore,

• Trimble Realworks, Trimble Connect
