Clinical Dietitian 1 Outpatient Diabetes Educator

Employment Type Full time Shift Day Shift Description This position's primary role is to provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and Diabetes Self-Management Training (DSMT) to adults in the outpatient setting. It includes 1:1 and class education. The dietitian will assess the nutrition status of assigned patients and implement all components of the nutrition care process, according to food and nutrition department policies and local regulatory standards (IDPH, TJC, CMS, etc.). The role involves monitoring and evaluating nutrition interventions, making appropriate adjustments to plans, and reporting results of quality outcomes in the inpatient and outpatient setting. The position requires specialty practice experience and working knowledge in a specific nutrition discipline. It is part of the Clinical Career Ladder Program. Job Duties Assess, interpret, plan, monitor and document the nutritional status and needs of patients using evidence-based standards of care, policies, and practice guidelines. Perform a nutrition-focused physical exam on patients. Identify and provide age-specific nutrition care to meet cultural needs of patients and families. Work within an inter-disciplinary team to provide a plan of care to achieve medical goals. Manage and coordinate medical nutrition therapy of complex, high‑acuity patients within the dietitian's area of specialty practice. Educate patients, care givers, students, and other health care colleagues on the effect of therapeutic diets and nutrition support to maintain or improve nutritional status. Demonstrate leadership skills by presenting on nutrition topics related to expertise; e.g., journal club, in-service, Grand Rounds, THS‑FANS program. May also participate on a hospital committee or THS‑FANS sub‑committee. Participate in department activities to enhance patient satisfaction and keep current on nutrition research to incorporate into daily practice. Requirements Bachelor's Degree 1-2 years of previous job-related experience Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration Licensed as a Dietitian Nutritionist with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist with the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education Preferred Master's Degree Specify Degree(s) Dietetics, Nutrition, or Family & Consumer Science with ACEND requirements completed Compensation Pay Range: $55,806.40 – $86,507.20 annually. Actual compensation will fall within this range but may vary based on experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparison to colleagues in similar roles.
