ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Serves as Deputy Chief of Health Services for the Southern Region.
- Serves as a full line supervisor.
- Develops, implements, and monitors policies and procedures related to medical
- Reviews responses to individual’s medical grievances.
- Participates in budget planning.
- Develops and oversees relationships/clinical programs with academic
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
* Requires an Illinois license to practice medicine and, in compliance with the Lippert decree, a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (OD) and either board certification in internal medicine, family or emergency medicine or have successfully completed a residency in internal medicine approved by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Association, or have successfully completed a residency in emergency medicine approved by the American Board of Emergency Medicine. * Requires three (3) years of substantive medical experience in clinical/medical program direction, planning and evaluation.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Prefers at least three (3) years of experience in healthcare or hospital administration. * Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working with various professional and nonprofessional health service disciplines and program support functions. * Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in writing and implementation of policies and procedures for hospitals or other large healthcare settings. * Prefers at least two (2) years of experience in healthcare education and training including needs assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. * Prefers at least one (1) year of experience working with correctional medicine. * Prefers at least three (3) years of experience supervising staff including providers and support staff in a healthcare setting. * Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in collaboration with academic institution for delivery of healthcare. * Prefers at least one (1) year of experience developing, revising, and disseminating clinical practice guidelines. * Prefers at least one (1) year of experience conducting mortality reviews and participating in peer reviews and adverse event evaluations. * Prefers at least one (1) year of experience participating in quality review of new and ongoing policies, procedures and programs.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
* Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license. * Required to maintain a current/active Illinois license to practice medicine and, in compliance with the Lippert decree, a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (OD) and either board certification in internal medicine, family or emergency medicine or have successfully completed a residency in internal medicine approved by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Osteopathic Association, or have successfully completed a residency in emergency medicine approved by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
