Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in History of the MediterraneanWorld The Department of History at the College of the Holy Cross invitesapplications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professorspecializing in the history of the Mediterranean world, with achronological focus in either the medieval or early modern period,to begin in August 2027. This is an entry-level tenure trackposition for recent Ph.D.'s who have not yet served in atenure-track capacity. We particularly welcome applicants focusingon transregional exchanges or conflicts across Mediterraneanspaces, broadly defined. Candidates will be expected to teachintroductory courses in medieval and early modern history, updatingour current catalog offerings within that timeframe and includingat least some courses focusing on Europe. Candidates will also havethe opportunity to self-design courses according to their owninterests and areas of expertise and to participate in teaching arequired methods class to majors. We seek applicants who will bringoriginality to the classroom and develop synergies with colleaguesin the Department of History and in other departments and interdisciplinary programs across the College.Finally, we expect that the candidate's overall teaching willcontribute to History's Global Themes curriculum. This position carries a 3-2 teaching load with a research leaveprior to tenure review of either a full year at 80% salary or asemester at full salary, and generous sabbatical and fellowshipleaves for tenured faculty. To enable a smooth transition to HolyCross, new full-time tenure-track Assistant Professors receivestart-up funding to support their research and professionaldevelopment and have a one-course reduction in their first year ofteaching (i.e., 2-2). This position offers full benefits and astarting salary of $102,500.
