Job Title: Clinical Pharmacist – Prior Authorization
Location: Durham, NC 27707
Duration: 12 Months Contract
Pay Rate: $59–$63/hour on W2
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist to support prior authorization and utilization review activities. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, experience reviewing pharmacy benefit requests, and an active pharmacist license.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review prior authorization requests and make coverage determinations based on member benefits and clinical criteria.
- Review and summarize daily utilization review data and prepare reports for corporate compliance committees.
- Track compliance metrics for utilization review cases.
- Provide clinical guidance and support to pharmacy technicians.
- Apply knowledge of drug coding systems (NDC, GCN, GPI, and USC) and NCPDP claims adjudication.
- Review prior authorization and non-formulary drug guidelines to support Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee initiatives and pharmacy benefit design.
- Ensure quality standards are met and identify opportunities for process and performance improvements.
- Research drug information and maintain current knowledge of medications and disease states to support clinical reviews.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or an advanced pharmacy degree (PharmD preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant clinical pharmacy or prior authorization experience .
- Active and unrestricted U.S. Pharmacist license.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy benefit management, utilization review, and prior authorization processes.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
