Certified Nursing Assistant II

The Certified Nursing Assistant II performs specific responsibilities under the direction and supervision of a licensed nurse. Functions within the framework of the NAII listing granted by the NC Board of Nursing. Practices within the philosophy and goals of patient care services. In addition, the Nursing Assistant may be utilized in the Observer Role responsible for monitoring one or more assigned patients on a designated unit for a specified time period.

Responsibilities include participating in quality improvement activities, problem solving resolution activities, identifying opportunities for improvement, data collection, employing safe practices, infection control, fire and disaster regulations, cost savings activities, education, attending and utilizing staff development programs, fulfilling annual mandatory educational requirements, orienting new staff and students, following hospital and unit based policies and procedures, building interpersonal relations and communications, making unit, department and hospital contributions, assisting in providing direct patient care, performing delegated skills and tasks, monitoring patients for signs of escalating behaviors, alerting nurses if patients exhibit risk of harming themselves or others, maintaining level of observation according to the patient's plan of care, communicating effectively with the patient's care team, documenting accurately, providing hazard surveillance, reducing risk within the patient's physical environment, and engaging patients in distraction activities.

Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or GED, active NAI listing with NC Department of Health & Human Services, active NAII listing with North Carolina Board of Nursing, current American Heart Association HeartSaver or higher certification, and de-escalation training.

Pay range is $18.00 - $23.31.

Position is part-time nights, 2 - 12 hour shifts, with weekend and holiday rotation.
