Product Engineer General - Fit to Nominal (FtN) Engineer

Travel Requirements: Travel required to support plant product launches (e.g., Kentucky, Kansas, Ohio)
Education: Associate Degree required (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
Experience: 3+ years of automotive Body Interior/Exterior experience
Position OverviewThe Fit to Nominal (FtN) Engineer validates the Fit and Finish deck (from VAST) and identifies part-to-part coordination and quality issues across exterior and interior product design. By measuring margin/flushness and conducting perceived quality audits, you will confirm part compliance across key launch phases ( DCV, TT, PP, MP1, MP2).
You will own the issue management pipeline-generating issue lists, leading binning sessions with thresholders, managing AIMS issue tracking, and approving pre-graining (OK to Grain) and Appearance Approval Reports (AAR).
Key Responsibilities-
Vehicle Audits & Measurements: Measure vehicle-level interior/exterior part-to-part margins and flushness on completed vehicles to ensure compliance with build event requirements (VAST).

Craftsmanship & Quality Audits: Perform Perceived Quality Reviews using the GFCPA Audit Checklist; lead Critical to Quality (CTQ) / Perceived Quality (PQ) audits alongside plant launch teams across all phases ( DCV, TT, PP, MP1, MP2).

Issue Binning & Tracking: Summarize vehicle compliance after build events, generate issue lists, lead CTQ AIMS issue logging/updates, and set up binning sessions with cross-functional teams (PD, VOME, STA, and Suppliers) within 1 week of audit completion.

Pre-Graining & AAR Approvals: Analyze dimensional and launch build data to execute OK to Grain assessments for pre-graining approval and review/approve Appearance Approval Reports ( AAR ).

CAD & Packaging Review: Utilize Catia, Teamcenter, and VisMockup to inspect CAD data, review clearances/packaging, and analyze interior/exterior part interfaces.

Automotive Experience: 3+ years of hands-on automotive Body Interior/Exterior quality, dimensional, or launch experience.

GD&T Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) and hands-on physical vehicle dimensioning techniques.

Software & CAD Tools: Experience using Teamcenter & VisMockup (designer level equivalent) and/or Catia to navigate 3D CAD data, check packaging, and analyze clearances.

Issue Management: Familiarity with automotive issue tracking systems (e.g., AIMS) and leading root-cause binning sessions.

Language & Tech: Proficient in English (95%+ fluency required); proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Six Sigma: Six Sigma Green Belt certification with DMAIC and root-cause analysis expertise.

Auditing: Formal experience conducting static fit-and-finish plant audits and GFCPA perceived quality reviews.
