Overview The Grounds Helper position offers an opportunity to contribute to the maintenance and upkeep of our outdoor spaces. This part-time, seasonal role entails assisting with various grounds maintenance tasks for up to 26 hours weekly, with the potential to transition into a permanent part-time position. Responsibilities Lawn Upkeep: Ensure the lawns are well-maintained by mowing, edging, and watering as needed to uphold a neat and tidy appearance. Trash Removal: Regularly patrol the grounds to collect and dispose of litter and debris, contributing to a clean and inviting environment for residents and visitors. Weeding: Identify and remove weeds from flowerbeds, pathways, and other landscaped areas to preserve the aesthetic quality of the grounds and promote the health of plants. Raking/Sweeping: Perform raking and sweeping tasks to clear leaves, branches, and other debris from walkways, parking lots, and common areas, enhancing safety and appearance. Other Tasks as assigned Qualifications Valid drivers license for essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Reliability: Demonstrate a track record of dependability and punctuality, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule. Strong Work Ethic: Exhibit a commitment to excellence in grounds maintenance, displaying initiative and diligence in carrying out assigned duties. Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and respectfully with supervisors, coworkers, and residents, actively listening to instructions and feedback to ensure tasks are performed accurately. Adaptability: Adjust to changing priorities and work conditions, demonstrating flexibility and resourcefulness in responding to unforeseen challenges or demands. Attention to Detail: Pay close attention to the quality and accuracy of work, striving for excellence in every task and ensuring the grounds are meticulously maintained. Collaborative Spirit: Work effectively as part of a team, contributing positively to group dynamics and fostering a supportive and harmonious work environment. Advertised Salary $11.00/hr ADA This position works outdoors. Incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold. Position requires extensive physical labor in dust and pollen filled environments in all types of weather. Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time. The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, pollen, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, stooping, lifting, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time.
