divh2Flumer/h2pThe Flumer will have the responsibility to move potatoes from the raw receiving area to the raw sort area through the use of water and a shovel. In addition, the Flumer will conduct tests to measure peel loss. Will keep bays, flumes, raw sort and waste plant areas clean and free of debris while being conservative with water usage and cautious with chemical usage./ppPosition Duties and Responsibilities:/pulliEnsure potatoes are fed to the pit conveyor that is in use./liliKeep bins, work area, and trenches cleaned and washed out as necessary. Accomplish efficient cleaning by starting a new bay while the other bay is cleaned./liliFollow the Run Order as provided by the Shift Manager (flume from the correct bays as instructed by management)./liliSet and/or adjust conveyor speeds to ensure the Peeler has an uninterrupted flow of product without overloading the Peeler. Work with others to coordinate this as needed./liliMonitor the pump pits for excess mud, pump and/or clean out as necessary. Ensure holding tanks are full prior to pumping./liliConduct peel loss tests for both peelers (when running) at least two times per shift./liliImmediately report problems to the Shift Manager./liliEnsure all hoses are properly hung and do not pose a hazard after each use. Do not allow hose nozzle to make contact with the floor./liliUse caution around moving parts and equipment, and around open, exposed trenches, or trenches with high foam. Request and use de-foamer as needed. Ensure area is safe prior to entering./liliWill be required to relieve Raw Sort personnel for breaks and lunches./liliKeep areas of responsibility clean and well maintained during shift hours, and ensure area is clean for the next shift./liliComply with all safety regulations; follow all plant and safety policies./liliFollows all company and regulated good manufacturing practices./liliCompletes all other responsibilities as necessary./li/ulpKnowledge and Skills:/pulliFamiliarity with the potato dehydration process helpful./liliMust be able to closely follow operational instructions./liliAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing./li/ulpEducation:/ppEducation must be of such level as to allow for the accurate reading, writing, calculation and communication of the required materials and instructions to complete the job responsibilities of the Flumer position./ppPhysical Requirements:/pulliMust be able to stand, bend, or move repetitively for up to 12 hours./liliMust be able to shovel potatoes and/or mud weighing up to 35 lbs on a regular basis for up to 12 hours./liliMust be able to lift on a regular basis up to 50 lbs without assistance, and 100 lbs with assistance./liliAble to tolerate dust or chemicals./liliMust not be affected by moving water, equipment and machinery./liliBending, stretching, lifting, reaching, climbing, crawling, and crouching as required./liliMust be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed./li/ulpSupervisor Duties:/ppThe Flumer has no supervisory authority. Will be required to report any problems to the Assistant Shift Manager or the Shift Manager./ppWorking Conditions:/ppNormal plant / manufacturing environment. Hours of operation are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Flumer must be available all days and all hours. Position is very physical / hands on.
