The Construction Field or General Superintendent is responsible for oversight of field construction activities within a given geographic area. Construction work can include fabrication, installation, modification and maintenance of systems and component.

Construction Specific Responsibilities

- Assists Field Managers in directing the actual construction of multiple capital projects to their overall successful completion and DOE satisfaction.

- Serves as a member of the project team and design review board for each project from inception to closeout and ensures the highest quality, most economical, timely, and practical design and construction product possible.

- Coordinates construction outage schedules, cost controls, priorities, and planning with project / construction management and plant schedulers to achieve successful project implementation.

- Resolves quality control and quality assurance issues and recommends corrective action if necessary.

- Coordinates with design / construction engineering for scheduling of design outputs and provides design with necessary input to resolve design changes and improve constructability.

- Promotes increased productivity and safe work practices with the intent of maximizing use of resources and eliminating injuries.

- Fosters a "team concept" when interfacing with operations, DOE, other departments and divisions and attends scheduled and unscheduled meetings, provide reports, status on projects and identify, address and resolve problems.

- Reviews and approves job plans, permits, material requisitions for capital expenditures, schedules/schedule changes and miscellaneous other documents ensuring accuracy, practicality, economics, and impact on other projects.

- Manages a staff of personnel assigned to capital projects and maintenance orders and attending to their development, training, evaluations, career progression and problems.

- Identifies and acts on engineering and material restraints to critical jobs through meetings, discussions, reports and verifies that proper tools are in place to clear restraints.

Design output constructability reviews

- Review design output and vendor documents

- Field walk down with construction engineers

- Verify design constructability including procedure and code compliance

- Verify field conditions vs. Design output

- Verify material availability

- Submit constructability comments

- Track comments to resolution

Work Execution Field Coverage & Support

- Lead pre-job briefings with craft workers

- Perform task ready walk down with craft

- Verify quantities of installed commodities

- Coordinate daily field support

- Expedite / validate needed material as required

- Coordinate and status shop fabrication in support of field execution

- Perform field inspections

- Identify and coordinate resolution of field installation issues

Qualifications

The Construction Field General Superintendent - Construction shall have consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five (5) years, Must be able to use a computer to communicate via email; and proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and related tools and technology required for the position. Work products shall be thorough, accurate, appropriately documented, and comply with established criteria. All employees, in the performance of their respective responsibilities, shall conduct themselves in the highest possible standards of ethical and business conduct. The candidate shall ensure that duties are performed in a competent and professional manner that meets milestones/delivery schedules as outlined.

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and at least 8 years of practical experience in construction management / supervision.

- Associate's degree in a technical discipline and at least 12 years of practical experience in construction management / supervision. or

- High school diploma and 16+ years of practical experience in construction management / supervision.

- In-depth knowledge of construction safety, planning, the ability to evaluate technical design data, develop and determine construction techniques and strategies.

- Manage a multi-disciplined staff in a proactive, value added manner.

- Working knowledge of national codes and standards.

- Working knowledge of environmental regulations. A 40-hour workweek is scheduled. SRR construction utilizes a 10 hour per day - four days per week schedule. - A standard work week is Monday through Thursday 6:30am - 5:00pm. However, alternate schedules could be employed. - Workweek excludes SRR holidays - Candidate must be a U.S. citizen. - Candidates must posses a valid driver's license - Personal vehicles operated by candidate must have valid registration

- Personal vehicles operated by candidate must be insured with proof of insurance within the vehicle

Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, & Adobe)

All ProSidian staff must be determined eligible for a "Facility Access Authorization" (also referred to as an "Employment Authorization") by the USG's designated Security Office.

Must be able to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigative requirements, up to a Top Secret or DOE "Q" clearance.

TRAVEL: Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, events, site visits, or other training requirements. Travel is coordinated with the technical point of contact and approved in writing by the Contracting Officer in advance, as allowed, in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations. LOCATION: Work shall be conducted at or in proximity to Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina
