The Buyer will generate purchase orders, and actively review GPO contracts and EDI exceptions to ensure accurate pricing. This individual will proactively review open orders, communicate and resolve product backorders, and locate product substitutes. Additionally, the Buyer will resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner. The Buyer is responsible to provide open and effective communication among Supply Chain staff, clinical managers, and end users, as well as vendors. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.**Education / Experience**:Associate's degree required. In lieu of degree, 6 years of previous buyer experience required. Minimum 4 years' experience with health care related purchasing in an Acute Care setting with clinical capital equipment experience preferred. Experience with computer programs for health care, Materials Management, or general business required.**License/Certification**: None**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**: • Must demonstrate the ability to direct, control and plan product purchasing using independent judgement. • Must possess superior customer service and communication skills. • Participate in the major project equipment planning/evaluation and negotiations for capital equipment.**Working Conditions/Physical Requirements**:Position requires sitting for 90% of the workday and mobility 10% of the workday. There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 40 pounds. There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person. Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range. Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. Minimal noise levels. Much exposure to computer work. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock. Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks. Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
