Understudy is seeking a talented Pastry Chef to lead our pastry program! As the Pastry Chef, you will drive innovation and creativity in our dessert offerings, ensuring exceptional quality and delight for our guests.
Under the guidance of Chef Philip Tessier and Managing Partner Justin Williams, Understudy is committed to culinary excellence and providing our community with outstanding food experiences. Be a part of the creative team behind Michelin-starred PRESS Restaurant as we open Understudy, a playful, modern patisserie and cafe showcasing both our craft and local ingredients.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute creative and innovative pastry menus, including desserts, breads, and confections.
- Lead and inspire the pastry team to maintain high standards of quality, presentation, and taste.
- Oversee production, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to culinary standards.
- Collaborate with the culinary team to create harmonious dessert pairings with our savory dishes.
- Source high-quality ingredients and manage inventory for pastry production.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Executive Pastry Chef or similar senior pastry role.
- Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques, dessert trends, and ingredient functionality.
- Creative flair with the ability to design visually stunning and delicious desserts.
- Strong leadership skills with experience in mentoring and developing pastry talent.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
