Incentives and Benefits Hiring Bonus/Incentive pay of $7,500 for Professional staff (net pay shown). Components include: $1,000 after hire date $500 after successful completion of Position-Specific Training $1,000 after successful completion of probation $2,500 after 1 year (after probation) $2,500 after 2 years (after probation) Vacation & Sick time front-load; for Police Professional staff, 80 hours of vacation and 80 hours of sick time at hire Biweekly accruals of vacation and sick time at normal rates for new hires Education Bonus (if applicable): one-time education/earned degree incentive payable after probation. Degrees must be from an accredited college/university with relevant majors. Highest degree earned related to core functions receives the incentive. Examples: Associate $500; Bachelor $1,000; Masters or higher $1,500 Moving Expenses (if applicable): potential one-time payment if moving near Town borders after final offer. In-state moves under 90 miles: $250; 90 miles or more: $500; Out-of-state: $1,500 Travel Reimbursement (if applicable): reimbursement for testing-related travel after conditional offer; receipts required. Job Classification Summary Positions are responsible for specialized public safety, law enforcement, and police support functions. Provide professional, customer-focused service while supporting a wide range of police-related duties. Distingishing Characteristics Fully qualified, experienced administrative classification in the public safety support family. Work includes a range from basic to more complex tasks under general supervision. Tasks may vary with Town needs. Essential Duties Respond to low-priority calls-for-service and non-emergency situations (abandoned vehicles, towing requests, roadway hazards, motorist/citizen assists, minor injuries). Conduct patrols and business checks; perform security assessments. Investigate minor criminal offenses; interview victims/witnesses; prepare offense reports and related documentation. Transport and process detainees following established procedures. Answer phones, greet walk-ins, and assist the public and departmental personnel. Assist with vehicle releases as required by law. Support Property & Evidence Technicians with processing and transportation of evidence. Perform related duties as assigned. Typical Qualifications Minimum Qualifications (at job entry) Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED and 2 years of experience in customer service or public assistance; or equivalent combination of related education and experience. Experience with police incident report preparations and with a law enforcement agency of comparable size or larger is preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred. Licensing/Certification Requirements Valid AZ Driver’s License Level A Terminal Operator Certification (from the Department of Public Safety) within 6 months of hire or promotion date Special Requirements Must complete a thorough background investigation including criminal history check and a polygraph.
