Construction Accounting Manager

Our Dallas‑based construction client is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the full job‑costing and project‑accounting function for construction projects across Texas. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who understands the pace and complexity of construction operations and enjoys being close to the work. This is an in‑office role, but the company offers flexible hours to help employees manage the Dallas commute. What You’ll Do Manage all accounting activities related to job costing, including budgets, cost tracking, committed costs, change orders, and project profitability Oversee the month‑end close process for construction projects and assist with corporate accounting Review and reconcile project financials, WIP schedules, and variance analyses Partner closely with project managers, superintendents, and operations leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial information Maintain the general ledger and ensure compliance with internal controls and GAAP Support preparation of financial statements and management reporting Assist with external audits and provide supporting documentation as needed Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve reporting, and strengthen financial accuracy What You Bring Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required) Experience in construction accounting or job costing is strongly preferred CPA is not required Audit experience (public or internal) is a plus Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles Ability to work on‑site with a flexible schedule Excellent communication skills and comfort working with field and operations teams Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously Why This Role Stands Out High‑visibility position supporting major construction projects across Texas Stable, growing company with a collaborative culture Flexible in‑office hours to support work‑life balance Opportunity to own the job‑costing function and influence financial accuracy and project performance #J-18808-Ljbffr
