This position is responsible for the technical outcome of a project and requires competent leadership. Engineering tasks often include the configuration of robots and vision systems, CAD design, and specification of vendor-supplied equipment. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager.Job Duties & Responsibilities:Overall responsibility for technical project executionConceptually designs automation, motion control, and robotic solutions to meet the expectation of the customer orderPerforms internal design reviews with all project disciplinesDelegates, mentors, and directs Commissioning Engineers and Associate System EngineersWrites the scope of work and the design workbook for the projectWorks with the Project Manager to ensure an overall great customer experienceGives technical guidance to design, controls, and software engineeringConfigures and assists in the setup of the robotic program and vision systemsProvides equipment startup supervision or assistance at JLS and at the customer siteCoordinates and leads technical meetings between JLS and customers/vendorsCollaborates with customers to solve technical problemsSupports meeting project deadlines and project budget estimatesAdvises customers as a technical expert before and after the saleSupports creation of drawings, documentation packages, and user manualsWorks with purchasing department to acquire material necessary to complete projectsResponsible for approving purchase requisitions as applicableOther duties as assignedSkills & Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Robotics, Systems, Automation, or other related engineering field4+ years of technical/professional experience within a related industryAbility to read and understand mechanical and electrical prints/schematicsAbility to prioritize when tasked with multiple projects at the same timeCapability to work mostly independent and be a problem solverPossesses qualities to be able to productively lead a group of 2-5 membersCapital equipment design knowledge preferredExperience in the food packaging industry, is preferredBasic understanding of safety standards and knowledge of sanitary standards is preferredKnowledge of project management, motion control, robotics, vision systems, and automation is preferredBasic knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D software is preferredMust be able to travel up to 25%Must be able to work in the United States without sponsorshipWork Environment:Environment: Corporate office that requires regular use of desk, computer, keyboard, mouse, phone, and printers.
