Groundskeeper

Primary Purpose Maintain safe, attractive, and well-kept district grounds and landscaping, including athletic fields. Qualifications Education/Certification: Valid Texas driver’s license Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to understand detailed written and oral instructions Effective communication skills Ability to operate power-driven equipment Experience: None required Major Responsibilities and Duties Grounds and Landscaping Mow and maintain all district grounds, including athletic fields. Follow a scheduled maintenance plan to care for lawns, trees, shrubs, and flowers, including watering, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, maintaining beds, and controlling weeds. Plant shrubs and other vegetation. Assist in preparing athletic fields for events, including lining and chalking fields. Collect and properly dispose of leaves, dirt, rubbish, and other debris from district facilities. Assist with the inspection, repair, and installation of sprinkler systems. Safety Operate tools and equipment in accordance with established safety procedures, including proper lifting and climbing techniques. Identify and correct unsafe conditions in the work area; report conditions that cannot be immediately corrected to the supervisor. Maintain vehicles, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. Inspect, adjust, and perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency. Follow all district safety protocols and emergency procedures. Other Transport personnel and equipment to work sites throughout the district as needed.
