Guidance Counselor - Grades 6-12

Monitor the academic progress and overall success of all students in grades 6–8 . Review grades, assessment data, attendance, and other student indicators to identify students who may be at risk. Conduct individual student conferences regarding academic performance, goal setting, organization, study habits, and academic improvement. Assist with student scheduling, course placement, electives, and schedule changes. Monitor students' progress toward grade-level promotion requirements. Support 8th-grade students with the transition to high school, including academic expectations and appropriate course planning. Support students with peer conflicts, bullying, decision-making, coping skills, organization, and adjustment to middle school. Provide crisis intervention and make appropriate referrals when additional support is necessary. Maintain student confidentiality and appropriate counseling documentation. Monitor student absences, tardies, and attendance patterns. Identify students with chronic or concerning attendance issues and conduct appropriate interventions. Communicate with parents regarding attendance concerns and improvement plans. Maintain documentation of interventions, parent contacts, conferences, and student progress. Parent, Teacher & School Collaboration Serve as a primary liaison between middle school students, families, teachers, and administration. Conduct and participate in parent conferences regarding academic, behavioral, attendance, and social-emotional concerns. Collaborate regularly with teachers to identify students needing additional support. Provide parents with school and community resources when appropriate. Perform additional student-support duties as assigned by school administration. Qualifications Master's Degree in School Counseling, Guidance and Counseling, or a related field.
