Travel RN - Telemetry - Progressive Care Unit

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Intermediate Neurosciences & ENT Unit position requiring NIHSS certification and comfort providing both step-down and acute level neurological care.

Job Details

• 18-bed Intermediate Neurosciences & ENT Unit within a hospital setting, including 4 epilepsy monitoring beds,
• Cares for patients with stroke, tumors, epilepsy, spine injury, neuromuscular and neurodegenerative conditions, neurotrauma, CNS infections, and ENT malignancies,
• Unit is currently operating under a pilot program with a mixed step-down and acute care patient population, with typical assignments of up to 5 patients,
• Anticipated to transition back to a traditional step-down neurology model around November,
• Night shift schedule, 7:00pm to 7:00am,
• 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week,
• Every other weekend required,
• Every other holiday required,
• No on-call responsibilities,
• May be required to work in a charge or precepting role on a regular basis,

Job Requirements

• Active RN license (North Carolina or Compact) currently in hand,
• Current certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS),
• Minimum one year of nursing experience required,
• Nursing Diploma, ADN, or ASN from an accredited nursing school required; BSN or MSN preferred,
• Comfortable providing care in a dynamic environment spanning both acute and step-down neurological patient populations,

• Coordinate and deliver patient care utilizing the nursing process, consistent with professional standards,
• Perform bedside point of care testing as required by the patient care plan,
• Provide patient and family education tailored to individual learning needs and readiness,
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate and update the plan of care,
• Assess and anticipate discharge planning needs for patients and families,
• Participate in unit performance improvement activities and provide feedback to colleagues,
