Selection for interview is based on evaluation of complete application file. Hourly rate placement contingent upon verification of related experience.
Employment contingent upon completion and verification of form information and background check with fee to be paid by applicant.
Pay for contracted classified employees is distributed once/month on the last business day of the month. Pay for employees who work less than full year is spread through August. Questions concerning pay processes may be directed to the Personnel Office.
Eligibility for SEBB medical, dental, vision, life insurance, AD&D, and LTD if anticipated to reach 630 hours in the school year. Eligibility for retirement based on 3.50 hrs/day or more for 5 or more consecutive months. Optional tax-sheltered annuities: Omni 403(b) and Deferred Compensation Plan. Personal leave, vacation leave (260-day employees only), and sick leave prorated based on FTE. Classified Personnel
Speech Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Salary Level: Salary Schedule A, Level IV
Reporting Relationship: SLP Team and Director of Student Support Services
Work Year: 180 Days/yr, 2 positions at 7.00 hours/day, 1 position at 14 hours/week
General Responsibilities:
Assists SLPs with speech therapy. Minimum Qualification:
- Must possess SLPA certificate
- Must possess High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience with children, Grades K-12.
- Experience with special needs population.
- Ability to relate to the population served with adequate communication skills for the tasks assigned.
- Ability to work with and relate to a wide variety of professionals, teachers, staff, administrators, colleagues at various sites.
- Ability to respond constructively to supervision and on-the-job training and to work independently as needed.
- Must be able to function in a calm, efficient, courteous manner under stress and to exercise careful judgment, confidentiality and tact in the performance of duties.
- Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License and have own reliable transportation.
- Develop and implement a therapy plan as approved by the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) with related record keeping (recording of behaviors during treatment using descriptive vs. evaluative terms), and materials preparation (preparation of clinical materials, treatment rooms, schedules and purchases of working supplies and clinical materials), as approved by the SLP.
- May be required (with supervision) to implement therapy plan for entire school site, and perform SLP therapy as scheduled upon the absence of the SLP.
- Assist in those aspects of the screening process that do not require clinical interpretation.
- Assist in the preparation if IEP, Due Process and year end reports under the supervision of SLP.
- May travel from site to site on a daily basis.
- Participate with a SLP in parent/teacher conferences, and participate in observations and approved training programs to develop those skills relevant to the job.
- Perform such other duties as, from time to time, may be required.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Other Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate a personal computer and related software. Knowledge of special education procedures to maintain appropriate confidential records. Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
