Jackson Veterinary Services is seeking an experienced, motivated, and compassionate Senior/Managing Veterinary Technician to join our busy, rural small animal practice. This leadership role is ideal for a highly skilled veterinary technician who enjoys combining exceptional patient care with team leadership, coaching, and operational support. The successful candidate will serve as a clinical leader within the hospital, helping ensure the highest standards of medicine, efficiency, and client service.

The Senior/Managing Veterinary Technician will work closely with veterinarians and hospital leadership to oversee daily technical operations, mentor and train staff, maintain workflow efficiency, and foster a positive team culture. This position requires a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and leads by example.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide advanced nursing care and technical support for canine and feline patients.
• Assist veterinarians with examinations, surgery, anesthesia monitoring, dentistry, diagnostics, and treatment procedures.
• Oversee and coordinate daily technician and assistant workflows.
• Train, mentor, and coach veterinary technicians, assistants, and kennel staff.
• Monitor and maintain high standards of patient care, medical record accuracy, and hospital protocols.
• Assist with scheduling, inventory management, equipment maintenance, and workflow optimization.
• Support onboarding and continuing education efforts for clinical team members.
• Promote exceptional client communication and customer service.
• Help identify opportunities for process improvement and increased hospital efficiency.
• Foster a positive, respectful, and team-oriented workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of veterinary technician experience required.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or management experience strongly preferred.
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, LVT, or RVT) preferred.
• Strong anesthesia monitoring, surgical assistance, and patient care skills.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and motivate team members.
• Experience with veterinary practice management software; experience with Shepherd software is a plus.
• Ability to multitask and remain calm in a busy clinical environment.
