Team Red Dog is hiring a Senior AI Data Engineer – Telemetry & Analytics for our client, a next-generation cloud platform company and AI-driven technology organization. In this highly visible role, you'll design and deliver enterprise-scale telemetry reporting, analytics, automation, and AI-powered solutions that improve service health, operational visibility, and data quality across large-scale cloud environments. You'll build modern reporting solutions using Power BI, Grafana, Azure Data Explorer (Kusto), Python, and Copilot technologies while partnering with engineering teams to transform complex telemetry data into actionable insights. Top Required Skills (Must Haves):

1. Reporting & Analytics: 5+ years of experience developing Power BI reports, semantic models, DAX calculations, Grafana dashboards, and enterprise reporting solutions that deliver actionable business insights.
2. Data Engineering: 5+ years of experience building SQL and Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) queries, ETL processes, data pipelines, data models, and integrating enterprise data sources to support scalable analytics.
3. Automation & AI Solutions: 3+ years of experience developing automation using Python, PowerShell, C#, or similar languages, including AI-assisted reporting, Copilot technologies, or agent-based automation.
4. Telemetry & Operational Monitoring: Experience supporting telemetry platforms, service health, availability monitoring, operational dashboards, and production reporting environments with a strong focus on data quality and reliability.

Opportunity Overview:

Help shape the future of enterprise telemetry and operational intelligence by building the reporting, analytics, automation, and AI-powered solutions that engineering teams rely on every day. You'll work with modern Microsoft technologies including Power BI, Azure Data Explorer (Kusto), Grafana, Azure DevOps, and Copilot technologies while partnering across engineering teams to improve telemetry coverage, operational visibility, data quality, and service reliability. This role offers broad technical ownership across reporting, analytics, automation, production support, and continuous platform improvements.

How you will make an impact:

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise telemetry reporting, analytics, automation, and AI-assisted solutions.
• Build and enhance Power BI reports, Grafana dashboards, semantic models, and analytics solutions that deliver actionable operational insights.
• Develop and optimize Azure Data Explorer (Kusto) queries, functions, materialized tables, scheduled tables, snapshot tables, and supporting datasets.
• Design and maintain SQL queries, ETL processes, and data pipelines that integrate enterprise data sources for reporting and analytics.
• Develop automation using Python, PowerShell, C#, or similar technologies to improve operational efficiency.
• Create AI-enabled reporting and analytics components including Copilot Agents, prompt assets, knowledge files, and related automation capabilities.
• Validate data quality, business logic, dashboards, scheduled refreshes, and production reporting solutions to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve reporting, data pipeline, query, and production issues.
• Create technical documentation, reusable components, and engineering best practices that support long-term maintainability.
• Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-quality analytics and reporting solutions.

The expertise you bring:

• 5+ years of experience developing enterprise reporting and analytics solutions using Power BI and data visualization platforms such as Grafana.
• 5+ years of experience with SQL, Azure Data Explorer (Kusto), data modeling, ETL processes, and data pipeline development.
• 3+ years of experience developing automation using Python, PowerShell, C#, or similar programming languages.
• Experience designing semantic models, DAX calculations, and enterprise reporting architectures.
• Experience developing AI-assisted reporting solutions, Copilot technologies, agent-based automation, or similar AI capabilities.
• Experience supporting telemetry, monitoring, operational reporting, or service health platforms.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using Azure DevOps and working within agile engineering environments.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to partner across engineering organizations.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Job Type and Estimated Duration: W2 contract opportunity through June 30, 2027, with the potential to extend up to 18 months total, subject to performance, budget, and client discretion.

Rate: $14,400 - $16,000/month
