Safety & Security Coordinator (Event Operations & Risk Management)

Pay: Based on Experience

Position Overview

We are seeking a Safety & Security Coordinator to support organizational safety, security, emergency preparedness, and event operations initiatives. This role works closely with leadership to assist with event security planning, threat monitoring, emergency management programs, facility safety efforts, investigations, and coordination with public safety partners.

The ideal candidate has experience in security operations, emergency management, law enforcement, military service, event operations, or a related field and is comfortable managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Event Security & Operations Support

• Assist with safety and security planning for conventions, championships, conferences, and other large-scale events.
• Support event operations through development of security plans, operational checklists, incident response procedures, and after-action reviews.
• Provide command center and event operations support during high-profile events as needed.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure event readiness and risk mitigation.

Safety & Security Program Coordination

• Create and maintain security procedures, best practices, planning tools, and operational guides.
• Support updates to crisis management, emergency response, and business continuity programs.
• Assist with implementing standardized processes that improve safety and operational consistency across events and facilities.

Facility Safety & Emergency Preparedness

• Participate in facility security assessments, emergency drills, and preparedness exercises.
• Support employee safety programs, including emergency action planning and active threat preparedness initiatives.
• Track corrective actions, document findings, and assist with follow-up activities.

Threat Monitoring & Investigations

• Monitor, document, and escalate potential safety and security concerns.
• Assist with social media monitoring, threat assessments, and event-related risk identification.
• Prepare reports, trend analyses, and recommendations for leadership review.
• Support investigative activities and incident documentation as needed.

Executive Protection & VIP Event Support

• Assist with protective operations for executive leadership, special guests, and high-profile events.
• Support venue risk assessments, logistics planning, and coordination with security partners.

Public Safety & External Partner Coordination

• Collaborate with law enforcement, emergency management agencies, homeland security partners, and other public safety organizations.
• Support information-sharing initiatives, training exercises, tabletop drills, and emergency preparedness programs.
• Help maintain strong working relationships with external partners to support organizational security objectives.

Additional Risk Management Support

• Assist with integrity, compliance, threat mitigation, and other special projects as assigned.
• Provide operational support for emerging risks and security-related initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Justice, Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Safety, or a related field preferred.
• Experience in security operations, emergency management, event security, investigations, law enforcement, military service, or related disciplines preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational, project coordination, and documentation abilities.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
• Experience facilitating training sessions, emergency exercises, or after-action reviews is a plus.
• Willingness to travel and support events outside of standard business hours when needed.

This is an excellent opportunity for a security professional looking to gain exposure to large-scale event operations, emergency preparedness, executive support, and enterprise-level safety and security programs.

This is a Contract position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
