Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (3x12 Hours, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit with a primary focus on cardiac and stroke diagnoses
• Perform phlebotomy and peripheral IV placement — both are mandatory competencies required for this role
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias; utilize Rapid Response Teams as clinically indicated
• Manage peripheral line care, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen delivery devices including nasal cannula, face masks, and portable oxygen tanks
• Adhere to isolation precautions and safely operate equipment such as Hoyer lifts
• Float within scope to like units (MS, ICU, ED) as needed to meet facility staffing requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered New York State RN license — must be in hand at time of submission; pending licenses are not accepted
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required; first-time travelers are welcome
• Epic EMR experience is a hard requirement
• Demonstrated competency in phlebotomy and peripheral IV insertion
• Every-other-weekend availability required; no holiday time-off requests; RTO requests limited to no more than 7 days for the duration of the contract
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience caring for cardiac and/or stroke patient populations
• Familiarity with Rapid Response Team protocols and dysrhythmia management
• Experience floating across MS, ICU, or ED settings
• Comfort with block scheduling requests (accommodated when possible, not guaranteed)
