Emergency Department Nurse Manager (RN)

The Emergency Department Nurse Manager has 24 hour accountability for the daily operations in the nursing unit serving as a role model and leader. The Emergency Department Nurse Manager oversees and coordinates the emergency care provided by the department and assists the Emergency Department Director with staff development oversees competencies assists with quality and risk programs and promotes Jennie Stuart Health goals philosophies policies and procedures.

Clinical Practice

• Directs and coordinates emergency care provided within the department.
• Directs department functions.
• Assists Director with coordination and completion of employee orientation process.
• Maintains equipment.
• Implements and maintains infection control measures.
• Monitors employee productivity.
• Oversees working scheduling.
• Assists with quality improvement efforts.
• Complies with hospital State Federal and JCAHO regulations.
• Sets role model for others.

• Procures and distributes medication from secure locations per work assignment according to established policies procedures and protocols.
• Maintains credential appropriate for the Emergency Department (ACLS BLS & PALS).

Minimum Education

• Graduate of an approved school of nursing.
• BSN required

Required Licensure

• Currently licensed in the State of Kentucky or Compact State as a Registered Nurse and in good standing.

Required Experience

• Three years clinical nursing experience required
• Prior management in the Emergency Department setting preferred.
