Job Title: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (Locum Tenens)
Location: Halifax County, NC

Schedule: Monday-Thursday 8:30-4:30pm, with possible half day Friday 8:30- 12 pm

Position Overview

A Clinic is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to provide high-quality, patient-centered care on a locum tenens basis. This role is ideal for a flexible provider who thrives in a public health setting and is committed to serving diverse and underserved populations.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive primary care services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up
• Conduct physical exams and obtain medical histories
• Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and lab results
• Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with state regulations
• Manage acute and chronic conditions across a broad patient population
• Deliver preventive care, including immunizations, screenings, and health education
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and public health staff to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted NP/PA license in the state of North Carolina
• Board certification as a NP/PA
• Current DEA license and prescriptive authority
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ACLS preferred)
• Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred (public health or primary care experience a plus)
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
