Staff Scientist, Immunoassay Development

Vaxcyte seeks a Staff Scientist to lead immunoassay development for its vaccine pipeline. This individual-contributor role involves developing and optimizing critical assays, evaluating innovative platforms, and providing scientific guidance to cross-functional teams without primary people-management responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize fit-for-purpose immunoassays for potency, identity, and stability testing
- Lead design and execution of studies evaluating immunoassay platforms and formats
- Provide scientific expertise on assay design strategy, reagent selection, and control approaches
- Support method transfer, validation readiness, and lifecycle management activities
- Mentor junior scientists and guide technical direction across vaccine programs
Requirements
- Advanced expertise in immunoassay development and analytical method validation
- Demonstrated proficiency with multiple assay platforms (ELISA, MSD, multiplex, bead-based)
- Strong technical knowledge of assay design, optimization, and lifecycle management
- Experience with vaccine or biopharmaceutical analytical characterization
- Ability to independently execute complex laboratory studies and interpret data
- Proven track record influencing technical strategy across cross-functional programs
